Why? I want it and have the disposable income to do so. I'd rather burn an extra couple hundred bucks on the phone i'll have for the next two years than a night or weekend out on the town that i won't remember in a month.
You're just a compulsive buyer trying to rationalize your choice : The Iphone X looks like a fukkin prototype, I'm not even talking about early adopters issues with the first series.Iphone X is just like the 12 Macbook, a swindle for early adopters that will pave the way to a more refined and cheaper product in the future.

I will buy its successors in a year or two but absolutely not the X.

I can assure you that nobody is impressed by someone's ability to own an iPhone. Maybe in China its a status symbol. The rest of the world, it is just a phone.

Not sure why people dont just buy this. I had my 5s for almost 4 years. Just bought this and and from post paid to prepaid att. brb 40bucks unlimited call text and 6gb data then throttled. Unused data carries over too.

Notice 0 difference from post paid ive used for 7 years and my prepaid i pay 50% the price of. I honestly will never buy a iphone bigger than 5s or SE. I have small hands and I hate large phones. I one hand text, email, pandora, surf web and banking. Thats it, dont want to treat it like a television or laptop. Girls I see have the samsung notes and shyt, ridiculous. Iphones variants are ridiculous too

lol at paying $1000 for a phone. I don't care how rich you think you are.

If its a phone you are going to have for say 10 years then yes $1000 is worth it. Heck 5 years would probably be worth it. But lets be real, next year you'll be shelling out $1200 for the next version.

Ditto. I've only replaced my phones when they've broken. I had a Samsung for like 4 years.

Same with my car. My car was 11 years old when it started giving me problems and I had to replace it.

I don't care what people buy usually but it is pretty funny they are charging that much for a phone and didn't really add too much to the phone.

If you have the money buy it if you want it though. For some people $1000 ain't a Thang... Why should you be able to tell that person how to spend their money? Lol

Wrong. When literally everyone and their grandmother has an iPhone the "status" kind of disappears from it. I've literally never heard of status being the primary reason somebody has bought it. It's just a well made device and Apple can charge a premium price becauseee the top tier Android phones cannot compete in build quality, reliability, software integration, ease-of-use, app ecosystem, hardware optimization etc.

Technically the 8/8+ is the successor to the iPhone 7/7+, not the X. There's only about a $50 price jump in those two. So, no, it's not a big jump.
