I have long taken issue with recommended calories guidelines, we have that chit printed on all our food packaging over here. 2000 kcals a day for average adult. I feel like a pretty average female, but if I ate 2000 kcals a day.... I would soon be the size of a house and yet, you would probably be loosing weight on that same intake.
I spend a lot of my time really hungry because I choose to eat 400grams of junk that day (and that will be all I eat that day), rather than 3 plates of healthy food. I don’t know why I make that choice, but I do, nearly every day, however I ran a marathon 2 months back so I can’t be THAT unhealthy.
Haha love that you eat a big bowl of ice cream every day, I guess we all have our weaknesses right?

Imagine thinking eating 2000 calories of cookies and working out will yield the same results as someone eating 2000 calories of ‘clean’ food.
Yikes.

But 1600kcals is 1600kcals, doesn’t matter where you got them, you aren’t actually eating a calorie, it is just a unit of measure for energy.
On R/C too btw... and maybe on spread (we shall see), I don’t rep much lol

It is best to balance your diet and allocate a certain amount of carb, fat, and protein as needed. However, what you listed as "junk" likely already does this. Ice cream and other treats usually have lots of fat and carbs, and ofc milk based products will have a little protein as well. The main reason a lot of these foods are considered "bad for you" is that they contribute to weight gain due to their density or that they have a lot of trans fats, added chemicals, etc. If you have pure ice cream, there isn't much inherently wrong with it. It has a good place as part of a diet for someone who is very active and requires a dense source of energy.

Lol @ wincel claiming he’s never replying to Kong again then replies to him.
I started eating ice cream like that when I quit drinking so I figure 450 calories of that is better than 3600 calories of beer.
Im in a hotel as we speak and I buy a half gallon on it on the road, eat the top off it and leave the rest...move onto the next city and do it again. I also buy hard boiled eggs and that sh!t when I’m on the road because I’m not an excuse-ridden baby like our friend winnnnnny

I ate cheap ground beef for dinner my first 8 months of training and saw solid results. Fat doesn't make you fat, eating more than youre burning does. That's been proven and demonstrated by countless people not sure why he can't understand it.

Not going to comment on its accuracy but that is why people heavily into their fitness will manage their macros on top BUT that is not the average person, the average person is not tracking their macros, the average person will at best, track their calories. Not 100% sure but I believe the rough estimate is protein is 1 kcal per gram, carbs are 2-3 and sugars are 4.... might have that a little mixed up but they all have different values.
There needs to be a standard number and that is all the calorie is, I am not going to keep track of how much fat, protein, carbs, sugars, salt etc that I am eating. That would do my swede in. But a simple calories? That I can do.
I went off on a tangent on the food labelling side because I believe that sticking the calorie number on food is helpful to the average person as per above reasoning BUT having recommended calorie allowances printed everywhere (based on an average adult - when we are so varied), is absolutely not helpful and may even be contributing to the obesity crisis. Fat people are likely to ignore the allowance anyways and normal average smucks who are just trying to maintain their healthy weight could end up on a higher intake than they need.
The average adult of now overweight, is that throwing the average recommended allowance up because they can eat more whilst maintaining their weight? Just some food for thought... hehehe

Main reason why majority of people are overweight now is a lack of portion control due to the way foods are packaged in stores or served to people at restaurants along with a large reduction in physical activity due to office work.

If ya'll are seriously coming in here trying to pretend that you aren't antagonizing Wincel, and trying to act like his frustration at the debate is unwarranted you really need to take a look in the mirror.
You can give fitness advice if you don't have your picture up. He is backing up his claims with sources, and protocol for a debate is to back up your claims with sources.
If you do not like his argument or find flaw in it, critique the studies he has posted or back up your claim with an actual argument.
"look at me, I have a great body." Is not an argument. It means nothing. I had a six pack and looked great before I knew a thing about nutrition. You are not required to have a picture of yourself up, just like you are not required to believe somebody's advice. But if they're backing their claims with sources, you should respond in kind or at least critique the sources.
Bobby's post about not knowing his macros and/or not necessarily knowing anything but what he eats (and although it is apparently similar throughout his diet), is a perfect example.
That being said, there is truth to cals in/cals out. Wincel has not denied this. He is stating that there is a layer beyond the common understanding of themost important partof the dieting equation.
He flat out stated that his statement does not ring true in a situation where you are in a deficit.
His argument is about what is optimal, and should be considered on the basis of that. Also, cals in/cals out alone is primarily for physique, and does not necessarily mean that your diet is free from flaw. You can have a great physique but also have a diet deficient of nutrients. I know this for fact, because in the infancy of my training I consumed a diet primarily of tuna and protein shakes. No greens, no vegetables. While this is a digression, and not conducive to the argument, it is a statement I would like to put out there as it relates to the argument in some form.
I do not personally have the ability to argue for or against Wincel's claim, but I just wanted to point out that ya'll out here wilin.
Here is what IthinkI know about Wincel's point, and you can feel free to dispute this and let me know I am wrong;
Fat is easier to store as fat.
CHO is the body's easiest source of glucose/energy.
Protein has a high Thermic effect and there have been a handful of studies about it... however, I cannot currently source this. But it might mean that a surplus of protein alone can have an impact on physique.
Granted, I don't follow any of this and just run cals in/cals out as I have no need for being optimal and would prefer to at least get things 80% right
You can give fitness advice if you don't have your picture up.

I'm saying cals in/cals out works, but there are some caveats to look at for details, and you shouldn't neglect to consider the macros. The same calorie value foods can have different absorptions and net effects. The example was 1600 cal of meat vs 1600 cal of sugar vs 1600 cal of olive oil for example. I'm also saying almost all the fat you have is dietary and wasn't synthesized from carbs, contrary to the myth that excess carbs are all made into fat. What actually happens is your body takes up and stores fats in the presence of excess carbs, rather than breaking down the fats and rather than making the excess carbs into fats.
But yea it is irritating that they won't actually debate and present anything wrong with my claims or contrary evidence. They just personally attack me and troll.

Brahs need to really re-evaluate themselves ITT

While that's presenting an argument in a vacuum, that statement alone should theoretically be enough to show that there is a premise to your argument.

I love walking. I walk to work sometimes and have to pass a million taco stands that take the whole pavement with so many people and homeless tents and all their stuff takes all the space.
Yesterday some homeless guy had a scary looking pitbull tied to a shopping cart and I was like how am I going to pass that. I just can't go to the other side of the freeway. Annoying.
