Are the lesbians at my work locker rooms secretly looking at my butt when I get out of the shower?
It's my biggest fear, just the thoughts that might be going on their heads...

Folk science theory is that it has to do with higher levels of testosterone, but some research has shown that testosterone levels don't actually affect sexual preference as much as we'd expect.
For me--part of it has to do with wanting what I saw my brother had, which was real pleasure in a sports pursuit and in being able to have friends he bonded with through sports. I really liked that culture of sports camaraderie and the idea of that type of acceptance. It's nice to be able to be friends with men and with women and to feel like both respect me regardless of how well, or poorly, I perform my expected gender role. Something I love about BJJ is getting male friendship out of it--a friendship of teammates instead of them just objectifying me sexually--as well as female friendship with women who are tough and admirable. It's always something I've wanted as being gay can be quite lonely and I've spent a long time feeling outcast from a lot of groups.

I don't know your t-levels so I have no idea but if you're male I definitely don't. My testosterone is normal for a woman.
I could beat up some miscers in a bjj match but not most of you. Strength and size matter. I'm not skilled enough to negate men's natural advantage. I don't know why people think that a medium-sized woman with <2 years of training could expect to beat up big dudes, lol.

In my experience, straight women ogle other straight women way more than lesbians do. Most lesbians are acutely aware of how awful it feels to be objectified by men and we try not to do that to straight women. The locker room is a safe space--I don't stare at people there. When I do notice other women's bodies it is primarily in a non-sexual context: I may briefly compare my musculature or body fat to theirs, shrug at my own insecurity, and move on.
Outside of the locker room I obviously notice beautiful women in the way that you likely notice handsome men. Staring in the locker room is, however, taboo.

I'm pretty interested in getting into Jui Jitsu but I'm still in the tail end of recovering from an injury to two lumbar discs discs (19 months). Are there general/novice classes for people who'd like to learn take-downs and how to wrestle for fun, general fitness and defense? Do you think I'm likely to get twisted badly enough to re-aggravate them in said classes (provided I wait until I'm feeling 100%)?

Jiu jitsu is not called "the gentle art" for no reason. It is very possible to train in a style that is minimally dangerous, especially if you join a reputable gym and talk to the instructor about your concerns. Believe me, they've seen people with all kinds of injuries and limitations before. Most gyms offer beginner classes that may just be learning moves, no live rolling. In fact, Marcelo's requires you to have three months of those classes before you can even begin to roll live with resisting opponents. For anyone with an injury history I would say that's a very good idea. If you name some of the gyms in your area, I bet I or other people who are familiar with BJJ can tell you which would be a good bet for safety!
ETA: most people who train are not serious competitors. Heck, I am not a serious fulltime competitor. I am a hobbyist. Most of us have jobs and lives and don't want to risk injury. You'll be in the majority at many gyms.

I had a few hookups with random guys to impress them and would have oral sex with them because I could cope with that, though I distinctly did NOT enjoy it (and was in fact disgusted); but I felt like I had to do it in order to seem halfway normal. I kept trying to find the right guy thinking that would make me enjoy sex, but I just never did, and eventually online dating just turned into me trolling the guys who messaged me, because the thought of being sexually involved with them disgusted me so terribly. I'm afraid I wasn't a very kind person during that era. Of course, the Misc is familiar with my trolling.
I will say I'm a lot mellower now that I am sexually fulfilled and understand my own identity.

I kinda feel like in general girls sexuality is more "fluid" and complex than men's. I know plenty of girls who are straight but have had sex with another girl, yet for the vast majority of guys that would be unthinkable. I don't think I'd even be able to give a dude a handjob, just the thought of another dude's boner gives me the urge to run away screaming, lol.
Chit's confusing though, cos I met this really cool lesbian chick during the summer and we ended up getting drunk and hooking up a few times, yet she claims to be gay and not bi. Then she went on to hook up with a female friend of mine and that girl claims to be 100% straight, yet it's not the first time she's had sex with another girl. Maybe I'm just surrounded by degenerates though, lmao.

I think one of the reasons I was confused for so long was that in popular culture it's seen as normal for girls to think boys are "gross." Being actually revolted by d*ck pics seemed reasonably normal because many of my female friends would say "ew" as well. Or would talk about how annoying men hitting on them was. Iactually, literallyfound being hit on annoying and disgusting, though occasionally flattering because it implied that I was desirable and gave me social status. Status is so important to us as human beings that for a long time I didn't consider my own desires or needs at all.
In college I actually started to consider that I might be gay (or bi, because that was easier), but I had a crush on my roommate and she had a girlfriend, and I had gained some weight (in an upswing of my frequent back-and-forth between anorexia and rebound binge eating disorder) and felt it made me not attractive enough to be gay. It's weird how my brain worked. I thought that I might just be thinking I was gay because I "couldn't get guys," even though I actually could "get" guys and was hit on all the time at parties, etc. I made out with a lot of guys in college to affirm that I was attractive. No other reasons. The one I couldn't get was my roommate, because it was too scary even to pursue her--because with her I actually cared about the consequences of rejection. I buried the idea of being gay and relapsed into restrictive eating after college, which deadened my emotions and my hormones.
It took a long time for me to come out of my weird denial. Partly, I thought if I "perfected" my physical body I'd somehow turn straight and "normal." But right now I'm in reasonably good shape, probably as good as I've ever been, and yep, more gay than ever.
Sorry for the tl;dr. This thread is actually helping me to self-examine, which I appreciate.
I also have time on my hands since my knee is being stupid. But a tiny bit better every day and I handle injury in stride now that I'm used to it. @Pumpinmirin should realize, by the way, that the reason I get injured is that I train A LOT by hobbyist standards and put aside physical health to do things like competition. That's by no means necessary to be a good BJJer.

Damn, can't even begin to comprehend how confusing this must be for some people. Going trough puberty and late teen years is confusing enough as it is, without having to figure out what gender you like. I actually know a girl that went trough something similar to your experience. She came out as gay when she was like 24-25. I had known her for a couple years before that and I just thought that she was a bit weird (in a good way though) and asexual. She's super social and outgoing, but I had never seen her engage with a guy in a sexual way at parties so I just assumed that she was asexual or really shy around guys she liked. I don't think she even realized that she was gay until she hooked up with a woman and everything sorta "clicked".In college I actually started to consider that I might be gay (or bi, because that was easier), but I had a crush on my roommate and she had a girlfriend, and I had gained some weight (in an upswing of my frequent back-and-forth between anorexia and rebound binge eating disorder) and felt it made me not attractive enough to be gay.
Not tl;dr at all btw, this is pretty interesting stuff! Thanks for indulging me.

I had a few boyfriends, though, for as long as they'd date me without sex. I dated one really goodlooking bodybuilder guy because I thought that maybe if I picked the best-looking possible man, I'd feel attracted to him. While we bonded and became close emotionally, and enjoyed cuddling, I just couldn't have sex with him and eventually we broke up and became just friends. Then I dated a guy who also didn't seem interested in sex. He wasn't gay, but maybe asexual or somewhat autistic? I dated him mostly to say that I had a boyfriend. We spent time together more like friends. I remember telling my mom that I thought I might be asexual because it kept just not working with guys.

I've never understood why people get upset that people might be homosexual or bisexual.
I suspect it's because they're literally trained puppet, and you show up and cut their cords and they're like wut?
You're right about the struggle, from south and seen guys persecuted. Was not able to stop.
There's a reason why people fly a gay pride flag and it's a rainbow. Tough business.
Edit: the reason? It's an archetype. Of love and peace and forgiveness.
Being hetero or monogamous is not at all bad.
One day, and I don't think it will be too long...we might start letting people mind their own business a lot more.

I'd say that's fairly accurate. I've struggled with depression and anxiety for most of my life. I hear that I'm charming and outgoing IRL--I make friends everywhere I go to the point that it's a running joke with the people i know. I'm moderately agreeable in that I enjoy arguing and don't bend over backwards to please people. Conscientiousness, well, I do a good job at my work, but I am not at all detail-oriented. As for intellect, I'm one of those people who's always tested well and I tend to lead with my brain. Love reading, writing, wordplay, solving math puzzles, things like that.
The most interesting thing about this vs the Meyers-Briggs is that on MB I get introvert, which may just be because I've become more social since becoming more comfortable with myself as an adult. I was shy when I felt awkward as a teen and in my early 20s.
What about you?
I also feel like GreatOldOne needs his own AMA, your post are wild dude.

Was gonna ask if you're on dat dere bipolar time when I saw your results cos you're basically really sensitive to both positive and negative emotions and low in Conscientiousness which is what you'd use to regulate those emotions lol. Link me the test you took and I'll post mine. I suspect it's going to look something like:
Extroversion 85
Emotional Stability/Neuroticism 25
Agreeableness 35
Conscientiousness 10

It seems like we're pretty similar, which is cool. Are you bipolar? I have several friends who are, and it's not a death sentence or anything, just needs management like any other psychiatric condition.

I'm not diagnosed with anything but I'm definitely at the very least very close to having ADHD (getting meds for it in Norway is pretty hard so I don't even bother) and I'm probably on dat Cyclothymia time, but it doesn't really bother me too much apart from the down periods where I'm just feeling tired and chitty and have to force myself into doing even mundane tasks.
