I did some research and found out many agricultural forecasters expected this year's gourd yield would be far smaller than the past, due to deteriorating soil conditions in central Mexico and a warmer-than-average spring. At first, demand soared around Halloween and prices skyrocketed, but the gourd bubble burst on November 12th. Unfortunately, the coronavirus caused a massive drop-off in demand due to fewer families decorating their tables for thanksgiving, and prices plummeted. I had invested early enough that I thought I would still be fine, but then on the morning of December 2nd, a new email in my inbox caused my stomach to turn into a pretzel. The massive gourd shipment from Argentina, scheduled for early March, had arrived. I was planning on selling off my futures right before this, in February, but this ruined everything. To top it off, the gourds in this shipment were absolutely gargantuan, some topping 4 pounds each, causing the price-per-pound to drop like an anchor into the range of 6 cents per pound. I am ruined.

Seeking non-financial advice on taking profit on the way up on a stock like GME. Crazy not to scrape some when the price is where it is currently? **** is so volatile, could be at $180 tomorrow–I'm not trying to be greedy, just wanting to make a somewhat logical decision on an illogical stock.

Also, asking outside of the Reddit echo chamber.

I have no clue where this is going.

My expectations are very small $300 I plan to get out. If it starts to tank below $200. Will just sell where I bought it at $150.

It all comes down to how much risk you're willing to take. If you're exposure to GME is 20+ percent of total portfolio and you're getting nervous reduce exposure.

If you got in GME sub $100 than why not take some profits?

Yes, it would suck if GME went to $1000+ share and the regret selling to early would be hard to take.

Take the other side of that what if GME is sub $100 after June 9th.

You can find countless stories of people that sold BTC when it was below $1000 etc.

99.99 percent reason why its trading where it is now is belief shorts never left and tons of DD from superstonk on topics that you would need phd to understand.

Cohen has not said anything but post random gifs on twitter.

June 9th hopefully answers lot of questions.

If it were me, I'd sell 50%. That way, you'd probably cover your costs and you wouldn't miss out if it went higher.

Also, keep in mind, the ONLY reason this stock is up is because reddit tried to bankrupt some hedge funds. Not because it's an inherently good investment. The company was quite literally failing before reddit.

CEO is talking up the company to retail investors who probably aren't even looking at financials and realizing and/or don't care that AMC has been losing a lot of money for a long fukn time

and/or sophisticated traders are taking advantage of ^^ that

Totally what that deal was. Why wouldn’t AMC issue stock directly to market? They cut Mudrick in on the action

Been holding BB before it became a meme stock. I am for the longterm regardless of what happened.

And do you guys think AMC is the new GME?

Could it go past 100? Maybe even 200? I will finally have a big account if that were to happen.

Nobody knows.

If we did we would all be driving lambos as winter beaters.

…………..

kinda related saw youtuber being interviewed on business channel this morning about AMC lmao we have come full circle to meme land. \

not a financial advisor just some guy that quit his software job to stream youtube live 8 hours day refreshing GME / AMC tickers and taking super chat questions

last week he turned $10K bet on AMC into $150K all thanks to superchat donators and youtube ad revenue. (he shows his buys live)

sometimes you have to admire the hustle of some of these people.

Thank you for the replies. I’ve held for months and only bought more during dips—my most expensive purchase being 2 @ $232 last week—which turned profitable today. I’ve only invested what I didn’t care to lose (up to around $7K at the moment) and have almost covered my initial investment.

To your point about the bias on Reddit CF—I don’t take it too seriously; however, some of the DD in there is compelling (not particularly around covered speculation for me, more around looking at levels of significance around beta and other metrics—which, oddly enough you mention a PhD, I’m actually working on my doctorate in business admin now, lmao).

I think I’ll look at where it’s at tomorrow, if it gets close to $280, I’ll sell my original investment as profit and then just keep the rest and see how 6/9 goes. Outside of options, from a risk perspective, I’ve never messed with something so volatile on a daily basis—definitely not used to these insane swings.

Pretty sure it’s the same problem for both.
