Just pulled the trigger on this. Been resisting buying anything for a while because I wanted something of srs quality like an Omega or Rolex. At the same time I really wanted a GMT for travelling, however, it had to also be sufficiently water resistant for diving. Rolex GMT's seem to be all 100m limit, so I thought fuk it. This ticks all the boxes. My only minor issue is the rolex hands, and I would rather it didn't have the cyclops.

Can't complain though with a ceramic bezel, 300m resistant, GMT, ETA 2893-2…. Should be here in a few days hopefully.

Did I dun goof? srs

I've owned a rolex subc before. There is not a better dive watch for under 8k, period. I was also an avid tag basher previously. This watch has flipped my perceptions upside down. Having only paid $1200 for it is just icing on the cake.

Good looking watch, but why risk diving with it? Go dive computers all day long rather than this. Also, 100m is fine for anything other than deep tec diving

It's gonna be my daily, go-anywhere, do anything beater I guess. Don't want to have to worry about taking it off on holiday or in the pool or diving (something I wanna try soon). Now I can focus on saving for the speedy for special occasions

Have had mixed thoughts on this. Looks a bit too similar to my SMP 2254.50 for me to pick one up, but if i didnt have it i would totally dig the polygonal bezel.

I dig it, i have the steinhart equivilant (ocean one gmt, actuallyu wearing it today), my pops has a squale (that same one you got black, C), I like it quite a bit, and the 300M is a nice touch. The hands are also slightly different than rolex hands. They taper a bit, where as the rolex hands are strict.

edit: The bracelet on the Squale is pretty nice too.

Thats what really sold it for me tbh. Looking for a travelers watch it blew my mind the higher end (GMT Master ii, Explorer ii, etc) ones were only up to 100m. Obviously I'm not comparing this to a Rolex, but that'd be something that would force me to leave the watch at home on holidays rather than risk leaving it in the hotel room / on the boat. Good to hear about the hands as I was already planning on having them changed lol. Can't wait to get it on the wrist

yea i was surprised that the gmt master ii was only 100m when i learned that, the bezel is a little different on those has well, it has 24 clicks, one for each hour marker, where as the homages generally have the same 120 click bezel used on divers, wouldnt worry too much if your concerned about the similarities, it doesnt say rolex on the dial and it isnt a replica. its a nice watch man, and for the price its really solid. wear it in good health bro.

Mirin that Steinhart hard. I was torn on these two for a bit, but I'd owned the OVR for a while. The lugs didn't fit my wrist shape (looks ideal on yours though). Still regret selling it, really solidly built, accurate watch,.

you made the right choice imo. this is my second steinhart (had an OVM for a while which i traded for this a while back, mistake), and the case is far too flat for my liking, especially when worn on the bracelet, the silicone strap goes a long way for comfort. The squale has a great shape, and contours the wrist naturally, plus the ceramic on thee squale is nicer, the numbers are etches into the bezel, where as the steinharts are just painted inside so in a glare they arent as visable. over all the 300 dollar premium for the squale over the steinhart is worth it imo.

awesome. Now the hard part is waiting for it Looks like I bought the last one cause Gnomon Watches stock went from 'in stock' to 'Out of stock' right after I bought it. Praying it wasn't a miscount

Gnomon shipping is goat. You will know if it was a miscount by tomorrow some time id assume because they seem to be semi god mode about shipping. brb ordering a watch and it arrives in california next day from singapore. tbh they seem like theyre a pretty well run and organized company id find it hard to believe they had a miscount

yeah they seem to have a good reputation among the watch forums. I enquired about the BlueRay a day or two back and they said they'd be getting more 1545's in end of July, and the rest around September incase anyone's keeping an eye out for them

+1 on Gnomon watches, i've had 2 watches from them now. A bonus too that they list the watches as $100 'timing devices' for customs, saves you some $$$

Gentlemen, today was an emotional day. At 3:30pm today I acquired something I've wanted for the last 12 years. I even got a little choked up when I got home. Had a rough year. Took a financial hit, had a relationship fail, was just getting my feet under me and then ruptured my bicep. I toughed it out and recovered. Today she is mine.

The blue combo is amazing as well. I got mine as an amazon prime day special, or i would have hunted for the blue. Though I've not seen the blue on bracelet, and the bracelet is quite nice as well.

For me:

Sub > DS-D (fuark) > SD

Sub is just iconic. Not the most expensive but it's probably THE watch in their lineup.

you can buy a new one for that price
Yeah about that price, but I have sapphire domed crystal that was 80 or so extra. I'd rather not mess with putting that on a new one

If it's between a no-date sub and an exp1, the sub always wins. Well, pretty much any decent watch always wins against an exp1. Can someone explain to me the appeal of the Exp1? To me they are what the Boxster is to Porsche, minus the history.

I'd go for a ExpII or a GMT instead. For a reg sub, I'd go for the no-date.
