It seems like they realllllly needed to delay it more but they got into a weird spot where they had promised it too early and already delayed it so many times all while having the biggest spotlight ever on them from all the hype.

I have a newfound respect for Rockstar after observing CP2077's launch.

I started playing RDR2 a few days ago for the first time and holy chit this game is good. RD2 is what actual immersion looks and feels like. So much variety, mechanics and everything is polished to perfection.

The only downside is the clunkyness but it isn't nearly enough to bring down the game even 0.1 point.

Cyberpunk makes me wish for GTA6 ASAP.

everything in rdr2 is deliberately done for immersions sake, ignoring how well it translates to player input and gameplay,
i think more than a traditional game they wanted to create an experience that IMO still is unmatched to this day and probably for a long time considering Cyberpunk2077 was the only game that was supposed to come close in the near future as there is nothing big on the horizon anymore other than hope for a gta vi in vice city

so i wouldn't call it clunky, i would call L.A. Noire and GTA IV clunky as they couldn't fully realize their vision in those games

For real. After arriving at the first camp, I spent hours roaming around and hunting. Walking around the town has been great also. I can spend hours just interacting with people, playing poker, hunting game, robbing people etc.

So much stuff to do. Reminded me of Kingdom Come Deliverance. Can't wait for KCD part 2.

rockstar killed it with rdr2 though. i hated their games before. was not a gta fan, and the first rdr, was not appealing to me at all. but they sold it to me when they wrote arthur morgan

that said i never have high hopes for games so i didn't really have high hopes for cyberpunk 2077 or cdpr, and am enjoying it. i'm the dude that was disappointed with the witcher 3 in comparison to the witcher 2 lol

and i called it didn't i????????????? the release would suck just as much as the witcher 3's release. the witcher 3 was unplayable on release for PC at least. when the witcher 3 was released it took them months to get patches after patches out. i bought it and didn't touch it for at least a month because of how unplayable it was. course no one would know that cause most people that played the witcher 3 are bandwagoners lol

cyberpunk 2077's release is way better than the witcher 3's cause it's at least playable. i'm enjoying it, i don't see what the fuss is about, probably cause i didn't read and watch every single article

yeah I'm not saying it's ultimately a bad thing, the only reason RDR2 was able to be created was because of Rockstar selling their soul for $$$. Takes a lot of resources to create a game like RDR2.

In comparison, RDR2 also took 8 years to develop on a $100MM budget.

CP77 is around $110MM (same 8 years).

to be fair, the right is what it looks like on my PC. everything at ultra but no raytracing. i didn't know RT was that immense in this game.

I have beaten the main story and rate the game 7.5/10.

Aspects of CP2077 captured me, but I think CDPR ultimately bit off more than they could chew. I think this time next year, after a bunch of patches, fixes, and the very needed DLC, this game will be closer to a 9/10. As of now, it's a good looking game and without a doubt the best looking virtual city built to date, but it's lacking in other departments that hold it back from being something great.

Overall, the story was good, but it didn't have the same emotional punch that CDPR gave us in the Witcher 3. Johnny is without a doubt the best character, and I'll give some shoutouts to Panam and Judy who I felt were well done and engaging. I actually wanted to play through their storylines and see what happened. Everyone else though? Forgettable. Ironically, the two I liked most outside of Judy and Panam were Del and the vending machine robot, two AIs, not even real humans. There just wasn't much there for anyone else, especially Jackie.

I feel like so much of the story revolves around Jackie and V's early relationship, but we don't get enough of Jackie to ever form that connection. All we get is some stupid montage that basically says to the player, "Hey, look how much fun you could be having! Isn't it great!" I actually kind of hated Jackie from that moment onward so maybe that soured the rest of the story for me. But I did love Keanu as Johnny, and I actually thought male V's voice actor did a damn good job.

The other negatives like AI, bugs, graphical issues have been beaten to death ITT so I won't reiterate them. I did like the combat for the most part, but I was getting tired of it toward the end of the game. I don't think a whole lot of time and thought went into things like balance. I crafted a pistol with 1.6k dps that one shot practically every enemy. Had it for half the game too.

The cyberware was probably the biggest letdown for me. An opportunity missed imo. It's kind of ironic because we see all of these gangs using cyberware in really interesting and cool ways, but we really can't do any of that ourselves. All we really get are some stat upgrades. Definitely could have, and probably should have, been better.

So ya, overall, Johnny's story carried the game, and I thought it was pretty good. Not a great game by any means, but I enjoyed it.
