Acog ordered. Should be here tomorrow or sat.

Optics on this build are complete. Acog plus Aimpoint master race.

Instead of using the stock mount with the twist nubs. I’m thinking of a LaRue quick detach ACOG mount…anyone have experience with LaRue? I like how it has the “lock” on the lever compared to others that just have the lever (that could get bumped/hooked on something)

Thanks bros. Looks like the ADM is quite a bit cheaper….and will also allow mounting the acog further back with the cantilever design.

At that price point I would look at vortex or leupold.

I recently compared 10x42 vortex diamondbacks and leupold bx2 alpines at dusk and couldn’t tell much of a difference

Opinions on running a Bad Lever (magpul specifically)?

Every time I shop around for gun goods it’s like the Google bots are trying to get me to buy one.

Pretty sure my Radian AR has that built in from the start
I have one I got a long time ago (magpul) for a poverty AR I have but I never go around to installing it.
It is a very simple device. Not sure how you could go wrong

I'm curious why that is. I don't quite understand it. It seems to be good at what its intended to do and it just gives you more options on how to manipulate the gun. Even with it on, I don't think it prevents you from operating the gun in the same way you would if it wasn't there. So it doesn't seem like there is a drawback besides maybe having to practice and become efficient with 2 different ways of doing the same thing.

Despite that, it definitely seems like nobody with a ton of credibility uses them.

My rain reason for ditching the one I had years ago, was that if you train to use it and get used to using it, and then you end up with a rifle that doesn't have one at the time, that probably sucks.

TA02 4x LED reticle

Pairing it with Aimpoint, anything less than a 4x would be redundant. Can’t be arsed with the fiberoptic on these. Or the tritium

BRB putting tape on my acog fiber optic….no thanks jethro. Absolutely, AA batteries are everywhere. What good is solar power in low light/no light? TA 02 is highly adjustable and will work with Nods as well (I’ll leave the the fiber optics to my compound bow). The reticle is etched so even if I don’t have a battery I still have a reticle. The battery will last thousands of hours of use and it can be turned off. Aimpoint has incredible battery life even if left on. I won’t chit completely on tritium as I have them on my Glock but I’m also running an optic and a laser. In low light conditions I’d be using the laser anyway (unless conditions presented to me mean I must use the tritium)

tritium reticle with a half life of 12.5 years means even 30 years after purchase the reticle will still be visible in low light.

thats 262,800 hrs. seems more appealing to me

Comparing tritium brightness to LED? I don’t care how well the tritium illuminates my gun case
I only care about how well it works when I need it. “Powered by a single AA battery, the LED ACOG can run for over 12,000 continuous hours (on setting #4 (there are 6 settings with an “off” setting in between each)”. More than happy with that. Combined with the Aimpoint micro T2 (Battery life: 50,000 hours (over 5 years) of constant operation with one battery on setting 8)
I’m not that impressed with tritium anyway. Are you running irons with tritium only on your pistol too then?

i have a solar powered TA31 on one of my 5.56 ARs, and a solar powered TA11 on one of my 16" aero M5s. both the 31 and the 11 are etched reticles with tritium

the appeal is that they are always on, and will always work. there is no battery that can die.

I know the appeal. The appeal doesn’t appeal to me. When it comes to illumination (it’s sole purpose) tritium is subpar to LED. Diff strokes for diff folks.

There is no need to put tape on your acog, don't be a retard

What good is solar power in low light/no light?

Ever heard of tritium?

If it takes batteries it's not a real ACOG

Juuuust sayin

I only care about how well it works when I need it. “Powered by a single AA battery, the LED ACOG can run for over 12,000 continuous hours (on setting #4 (there are 6 settings with an “off” setting in between each)”. More than happy with that. Combined with the Aimpoint micro T2 (Battery life: 50,000 hours (over 5 years) of constant operation with one battery on setting 8)
I’m not that impressed with tritium anyway. Are you running irons with tritium only on your pistol too then?
You don't need or want LED brightness in the dark. You only need or want LED brightness to overpower the sun which, again, real ACOG's are actually powered by the sun.

BRB complain that you need super bright LED right after complaining that the real ACOG is too bright for your sensitive eyes so you have to tape it lol

I've only ever needed reticle illumination near dusk and it was a low setting. I assume tritium would be bright enough in that situation.

What I'm not saying is that there aren't other situations where an illuminated reticle would be needed. That's the only one that's come up for me. TIFWIW
