Signed through 2018:
Deforest Buckner
Soloman Thomas
Arik Armstead
Ronald Blair
DJ jones
Earl Mitchell
Elvis Dumervil

2018 Free Agents
Tank Carradine
Leger Douzable
Datone Jones
Aaron Lynch

All we are lacking is speed rusher and maybe Pita can fill that role with a year of NFL ball under his belt considering he is so raw. Would like to sign Carradine and Leger to contracts but they probably might command a decent amount of money.
Yeah I'm still not sold on Armstead being anything special but I'm looking forward to seeing Thomas' growth heading into the second season. It was nice to see Blair back out there, he looked good.

We definitely need a traditional Leo guy so Solomon can play the Michael Bennett type role here that he's more suited for.

I'm really starting to fall in love(no homo) with Calvin Ridley for us. He's not a Julio Jones but the guy runs crisp as fuk routes and is constantly open for Bama even if they don't get him the ball. I see a Reggie Wayne type of player in him, maybe Antonio Brown like at his best.

And Adrian Colbert broke his thumb… apparently played through it but will miss some time, of course… liked what I saw from Blair and sounds like Tank is coming back soon.

Curious how Seattle plays tonight. No word yet on who will be starting for us Sunday but suddenly Seattle looks beatable with all their injuries but I still think our best shot to win more games are vs Chicago, Houston and maybe the Rams if they have nothing to play for.

My draft crush appears to be Calvin Ridley at this point.

Others in the running - no particular round though likely first rounders make a big appearance(no particular order)

Quenton Nelson
Bradley Chubb
Harold Landry
Minkah Fitzpatrick
Rashard Penny
Ronald Jones
Saquon Barkley
Courtland Sutton
Christian Kirk
Cleilin Ferrell
Connor Williams
Baker Mayfield
Lamar Jackson
Mason Rudolph
Frank Ragnow
Hercules Mataafa
Braden Smith

Guess that's ok for now This list will adjust but I'm excited to see this team hopefully take the next step with a good offseason.

This poor thread doesn't even get bumped after a game lol?

Same old stuff though. I though our D played well early but with the offense not really staying on the field long enough they tired out and gave up points in the second half.

As always Seattle got them some nice breaks, not sure how the refs didn't call OPI on the would be Witherspoon pick but called the roughing on Reid. Refs have been awful this whole week in the different games i watched. We had a few calls that went our way but whatever it is about Seattle they get some key plays with refs throwing flags against us or not throwing them.

It was messed up that fans were cheering at the end and I can see why the players were upset but i don't think it was cheers for CJ getting hurt, just excitement for Jimmy getting into the game.

I have to say given the situation it was really cool seeing what he did. Garbage time is garbage time so let's hold the Jimmy = Montana talk(if you post at webzone someone did make that thread) but still he looked damn good in those 3/4 snaps. I think it was a run on 3rd and 5(which looked to me like he made it) then 1st down converting pass on 3rd and 6 after they got pushed back and the TD with time expiring.

I was thinking they start him @Chicago anyways but hopefully this kind of helps them make that decision. Would like to see Trent Brown out there with him but if Jimmy starts i think we have our 2nd win for the season. Chicago just isn't playing great right now…but of course losing helps our #2 pick situation. I think if we win assuming Giants don't we're moving to #3.

im pretty sure we'd still have the #2 even with a 2nd win. The tiebreaker after record is SOS, ours is much lower than NYG's.

I thought I read last time if we finish with same record Giants pick ahead of us. With the NFC East falling apart not sure how that comes out.

Yea it makes no sense to start Jimmy at all this season. The OL is terrible at protecting the QB as witnessed by the countless hits Beathard has taken every game. If Jimmy is going to be the franchise QB that we've been waiting for, there is zero upside to playing him this season. We've seen enough to franchise tag the guy and/or work a long term deal. Let him have his shot next season behind a rejuvenated and beefed up OL.

And if our O-line isn’t good next year are we just gonna pull him and bench him? QB’s can also make offensive lines look better than they actually are, which Jimmy should be able to do.

Saying it makes no sense to start him is dishonest. There’s plenty of reason to start him this season. A clear reason is reps = improvement. Let him learn the system and develop in the system with actual game reps. And that will help the organization determine how much potential he actually has. If he plays the rest of the season and doesn’t impress then maybe you still draft a QB with a high pick. And if Jimmy is good then we can see what some of our younger pieces around him are capable of. Can Kittle be a solid receiving tight end? Can Taylor be a nice little slot player?

Also, clearly it’ll give some fans a reason to show up. The 49ers can only benefit financially if they start Garoppolo.

I didn’t want to rush him out there and I would be ok if he didn’t play anymore but my preference at this point is to hand him the job and let him show what he can do with this team.

I love CJ for what he’s done out there, literally took a beating for us so we wouldn’t have to throw Jimmy out there to get killed but if we want to see if Jimmy is worth top 5 QB pay or whatever huge deal he’d get we have to see if he can play at least a serviceable level with a poor team around him. Can’t always guarantee you’ll have a perfect situation for a QB. He should start so we can see how he does with a less than stellar cast.

Granted knowing the offense is very important but I think at this point he should be ok maybe with a limited playbook.

Can’t always play scared. I just didn’t want to rush him out there when the team was crap and he didn’t know the offense cuz that would just be asking him to fail.

Sorry guys been busy with work and a dirty bulk to come in and post.

I just don't think Jimmy is ready yet and the staff knows it. Heck he's only been here a few weeks and this isn't the easiest offense to learn. Im sure they don't want to put him out there setting him up for failure and having the media and fans rip you a new one.

I do hope he starts this year though. CJ needs a break from the beatings.

Sooooo fukking excited for this upcoming offseason.

We have our franchise QB and still are going to have a top 5 pick and a ton of salary cap space. That’s not something most teams get to work with. Obviously there’s no guarantee Jimmy G is for real but there’s a legit chance he is. And he’s also going to get a good portion of that money we have available.

The one free agent I really want, if Jacksonville doesn’t bring back, is Allen Robinson. He has Dez Bryant talent without being the headcase that Dez is. He might get overlooked coming off of his ACL injury. We’d have a stud #1 WR with a solid #2 possession guy in Garçon and then our Taylor Gabriel in Goodwin and maybe a nice slot guy in Trent Taylor.

Wouldn’t mind Alshon Jeffery as a backup plan.

Would be nice to get Malcolm Butler as well. I’ll never be shocked when Belicheck let’s a young talented player go. He’s not a great corner but he’d certainly be an upgrade over what we currently have.

If we were to get those guys then I’d like a top 3 rounds like this, assuming we don’t trade down (which I might prefer but hard to mock that):

1. Bradley Chubb (NC State pass rusher): I’ve watched this guy a lot this year. He’s legit. I don’t have any doubt that if the passion is there then the floor is high and the ceiling is insane. Could make our D line an elite unit in a year or two.

2. Billy Price (Ohio St Guard): I don’t pay attention to offensive lineman in college but he’s rated pretty highly. We need some interior help.

3. Mason Cole (Michigan center)

3. DJ Reed (Kansas St CB)

I agree Chubb has the makings of a stud but I'm still in the "hope we can trade down" camp and my pick there would be Calvin Ridley.

Not sure what I'll do if we can't trade down lol…all my scenarios require additional picks. I want all of the guys I mentioned before but the more I catch up on certain players the more I'm hoping these guys become 49ers

Ridley, Quenton Nelson, Josh Jackson, Rashaad Penny. The Minkah Fitzpatrick pick has dropped on my love list due to the emergence of Colbert.

I agree with you we should definitely dip into the talent level on the interior OL in this class…if we can somehow pull off a trade down I'd love to see the first 3 rounds look like this(i'm assuming we pick up 1 2nd rounder this year at least and a 1st next year)

1. Calvin Ridley - I love this kid and he would be a perfect fit for this offense.
2a. Josh Jackson - good sized corner who is showing off big play ability this year
2b. Frank Ragnow - G/C potential starter
3a. Rashaad Penny - He may climb higher when the draft comes but the kid is legit
3b. Hercules Mata'afa - Reminds me of Yannick Ngakue who i liked a lot coming out, LEO for us.

100% this. I LOVE Ridley. Would be stoked to get him. Ideally we can trade down but it’s hard to mock trades. And I couldn’t justify taking him with a top 3 pick especially with a guy like Chubb there. Also if we end up at picks 3-5 there’s a good chance we might not be able to trade down for a huge haul.

yeah, clearly a catch.

cant wait to rewatch this game and get a better look at JG. First impression is good. Offense looks a lot better with him under center. Maybe thats cuz its over simplified, but i love how he gets the ball out and his accuracy.

Give him time to fully learn the system and the future looks bright.

Love what I saw from Jimmy today. Having to play with Louis Murphy as a top 3 receiver isn't an easy ask against any D. He should be embarrassed for allowing that ball to be stripped for a pick. The drop that wasn't was bullchit by the refs but he needs to catch that clean so there is no doubt and no need to challenge. Think he had another one where he should've caught it for a big 3rd down conversion but let it go through his hands.

I've seen enough. He's legit. Checks all the boxes. His arm strength is also underrated. Check out this throw:

There's only a handful of people who can make that throw. AJ Green or Julio probably would've caught that.

That was a crazy throw…wish Kittle came down with his feet but impressive that he at least caught it. One of those - your guy gets it or nobody does.

I'm very excited to see him play vs the Jags. Not that Houston is awful despite their injuries but Jags right now are the best D out there. If he can look good against that D with what we have for "talent" then he's the chosen one. Though I will be in fear for his life in that game as well…

Yesterday was awesome to watch. I love his professionalism as well.

I was hammered and in a great mood yesterday…bought tickets to go to the Houston game this weekend. Five hour drive but I’m looking forward to being able to enjoy. 49ers game again. Pats fans were buying me drinks lol. That fan base has adopted us as their second team.
