There is not a single note written on a staff or as a letter nor any suggestions or diagrams - it's all formulas listed in normal form order and interval-class vectors, and it is up the the user to understand its uses.

It's really more of a complete reference for modern composers wanting to delve deep into abstract composition or jazz improvisers with a good command over all the basic scales Dom listed and want to dig into and discover and be inspired by new and unique sounds.

So answer this:

1 #2 3 #4 5 b6 b7

What type of 9th chord from the root (the 1) would the above scale work over?

Otherwise you can get Alternative, Exotic, World, Synthetic Music Scales for Guitar, or Guitar Grimoire Scales and Modes. That would limit it to the most typical scales and common exotic scales and its applications with charts, etc., but as Dom mentioned, all that shiit is online and there's plenty of the staples to keep you busy.

What scale is that? Or is it just a random combination you made up?

Some chords that you could play that over would be, 7#9, 7#9#11, 7#9b13.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

So if you can do this, then you don't need a book to list applications for a particular exotic scale that you want to dink around with.

Very much enjoying using the iPad Pro 2 as a DAW for recording and synth work. The only issue so far being the size of the 11" screen. I almost wish I got the 12.9" screen but that thing is a behemoth and undesirable to me in terms of the other aspects of using a tablet.

It's funny, it's becoming obvious to me that when I play a keyboard I tend to actually make music but when I play guitar I tend to nerd out way to much on technical aspects that are far, far away from any real sort of crafted music. BUT it's definitely useful for laying down simple progressions to work on that jazz theory chit and to just hear back how I actually sound when working on more harmonically demanding aspects of guitar rather than just linear, diatonic shred patterns.

my dream DAW set up is as follows :

- comfy as **** sofa with reclining functions (leg rest that pops out too)
- almost like a TV dinner tray on lap for mouse/keyboard (both wireless) that pushes to one side easily
- TV to use as screen

So the hamstring between you having your dream DAW is a nice sofa?

Looks similar but it's a 1x12 extension cabinet they made for George Benson. Same speaker as the '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue.

ahh gotcha

so where your 'amp', is it one of those pedals?

I'm looking to buy my first amp/pedalboard set up sometime and kinda tempted with one of those 'amp in a box' units

The preamp is the green box with the 3 tubes (2 x 12AX7 + 12AT7).

They look good. Friedman also has a new product that incorporates power amp simulation and an IR loader — essentially a tube preamp with a built in Two Notes CAB M. You can switch off the IRs and go straight into a cabinet or switch everything off but the preamp and go straight into a power amp and cab. Gives you a few options.

It’s funny that they painted that tri-tube preamp pedal in Tubescreamer green. Why not the Blackbird?

Either way those are pricey but impressive looking preamps. I’m surprised you’re using that TC Electronic power amp as I consider the Seymour Duncan PS 170 to be superior - although it is much larger so that would be a valid justification to also not use it on your board.

I’m going to re-build my pedal board. I was using the HX Stomp with the PS 170 but I sold it because it was too similar yet inferior to the Axe FX.

I’m still considering getting the IR-X as my main preamp but the clean isn’t my preferred. I’d rather have the Fender Twin clean or a Matchless lol.

I feel like I want all my effects to be contained in as few pedals as possible

Here's a video comparing the Blackbird to the Tonex. Apparently the Blackbird feels more "immediate" and has "more dynamics maybe".

Imagine if I got both the Kingsley Maiden and the Friedman IR-X to run into the PS 170. What would be the best single effects box that covers reverb and delay I wonder, I don't care about modulation.

It's weird how you're such a good guitarist but with that sus vibrato, I'm not even making fun it's not something I've really run into before. Most people who are very good at guitar tend to be very good at vibrato.

Ya, honestly don't feel like I ever need to buy anything else guitar related ever again after getting the axe fx…. Other than a tele.. My last dream guitar is the Suhr Whiskey Barrel Andy Wood signature.. But once I get that I will never buy anything guitar related again (fuk… thread is about guitar gear again)

That is literally impossible. You've already reached the limit how bad vibrato can be from a physics standpoint. Worse vibrato would actually open an interdimensional portal to some Event Horizon dimension.
