Do we think America will actually acquire Greenland?

I don't even know what to think, it's a lot of land with only 80,000 people

I know it is bibi and the likings pulling the strings because they don't want Russia getting a stronghold in the arctic

Probably. Trump seems pretty adamant about it, especially after the Venezuela operation. Money talks, and even if they refuse to sell it, our military could capture Greenland from Denmark like taking candy from a baby. Not advocating for an invasion but I am of the mind that American control of Greenland one way or another is essential for the safety of our hemisphere.

Apparently, it's been something Washington D.C. has been wanting to do for decades, and has tried behind closed doors, Trump is just doing it in a more aggressive public way

Well it’s either us or the Chinese/ Russians and we cannot let that happen.

Greenland is vital for the following reasons

- Missile defense
- vital location to monitor waterways for Russian/ Chinese ships and submarines
- rich in natural resources

The concern is the US decides to do it by force and that immediately puts NATO in a very weird situation as to what to do. We already have bases there so why not just have it?

He wants to buy it from the Danes for the mining rights. Lots of rare earth minerals or something there.

The people there are content to leave all that wealth in the ground...

Not like this. I think we could have acquired Greenland through purchase or even diplomacy if we'd approached it differently, but Congress will never authorize military force to take over another country and Trump used up his war powers on Venezuela. Trump's approach has set Greenland firmly against us, whereas it seems like their people might have actually voted to join the US if we'd approached them the right way

In my opinion we are going to either be at war with China in the coming year(s) or China will make a move on Taiwan. The reliance on Taiwan for semiconductors is coming to an end as US chip factories spin up. The rare earths necessary for modern life are left untapped in Greenland, which if acquired, furthers our need from China. The take out of Maduro was to cut China out from the oil they possess and reestablished the hard line we have in the Western world. Many supply chains are now diversified outside of China due to the covid era supply chain issues. They are either hedging their bets on Taiwan falling to the Chinese or the US just letting it happen since we are not as reliant on them anymore.

It is mostly white too, so it's not like taking in a place like Canada or Mexico

Agree with this post. That 3 billion offer making the rounds on the internet, if actually real, seems like a slap in the face though. Probably isn't all there's to it though. Can't imagine. Could be a lot of oil potential there as well - off coast or not. There used to be vast forests there many millions of years ago - so not sure how that process goes exactly - just thinking there might be a lot under the ice as well.
