COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A new comparative report found Ohioans have a 1.13% chance of being abducted by aliens, with over 4,000 abduction reports since 2019.Ohio is ranked 21st in the nation for alien abduction odds, according to a report from Canada Sports Betting (CSB) that dove into abduction statistics across North America.
According to the report, which considered data from 2019 to 2024, Ohioans have a one in 89 chance of reporting an alien abduction.With a total population of just under 12 million people, CSB found Ohio has a reported alien abduction for every 11,300 residents. Researchers were clear to note the ranking does not reflect the validity of abduction stories, but instead tracks the frequency of reports. Ohio has several connections to UFO history.

According to a National Security Agency document declassified in 2021, the Air Force investigated Unidentified Flying Objects under “Project Blue Book” from 1947 to 1969 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton.Project Blue Book did not find evidence of UFO sightings posing security threats or of connections to extraterrestrial beings, according to the NSA report. Many reports of UFO sightings can be explained by other aerial objects. However, other declassified documents show the French government explored 11 UFO cases and concluded 10 of them “could not be explained as a natural phenomenon or human device.The CSB data also differs from unidentified flying object data. According to the National UFO Reporting Center, Ohio had three reported UFO sightings in January, none of which were abduction reports. There were dozen of UFO reports from 2025.On Jan. 22 in Toledo, two people reported an “orange fireball like UAP in the sky,” which the center marked as a possible Chinese Lantern. The other two January reports did not have explanations associated with the claims.
