I think most people who ostentatively read the bible are larping hard

My wife is one of those people, she will doom scroll for about 6 hours after work, and a few minutes before bed she will pretend to be reading the bible on her phone. I asked her what she is reading, and she mentioned a number of psalms, and I said ok let's read it together, I will read one, and then you will read one. I could tell she was really uncomfortable. When she was reading out loud, she was struggling, as if she had never read it before and had a hard time with the formal language and big words. Strange for psalms she reads everyday. (supposedly)

Then at one point she came to the end of a page, flipped 2 pages at once, but didn't notice it, and just kept on reading out loud until the end of what she thought was the chapter. Mind blown, she didn't notice at all that she skipped a page and that what she was reading on one page had nothing to do with what she was reading as she flipped the page.

I gotta be honest, this hit me much harder than I expected. She is dumb as a pile of bricks, I always thought she was fairly smart, but this is some sub 80 IQ stuff (srs)

this is why I recommend practicing reading out loud even when you are alone. I record myself often and then analyze my pronunciation, intonation, inflection etc. Too many people delude themselves into thinking they can read, but it's all in their imagination

she was also clearing her throat a lot, and having these stress coughs, I think she felt like I was grilling her, but I didn't expect this at all (or maybe I did at a subconscious level, lettuce be reality here)

Most Christian’s pick a few verses they like here and there and apply them without giving any thought to its original context or origin. They never heard of a Septuagint or a Nicean council or a Martin Luther etc. just the way it is.

I haven’t spent much time at all reading the Bible, virtually none. But whenever I see some scripture posted I notice I interpret it different than what they’re trying portray. Are there a lot of context clues in the Bible? That would be the only way to explain it to me.

I have kids with someone like this. Will keep you updated! They’re pretty smart so far. I heard someone today claim intelligence is inherited through the mother. This is brutal news if true.

I understand her Bible struggle, I said the entire back half out loud shadowing an audiobook while working and still have no idea what happened (KJV). I don’t know if it improved my speech but I can ace any tongue twister.

Well there is a reason there are vast commentaries written on every book of the Bible. You should read every book as a whole, write down some questions, then reason a few commentaries on it, write down some stuff that answers said questions, read it again, and it will become clearer. Most people can't be bothered with that shit and rather just larp.

Consider a contemporary English translation and read the book called "The King James only controversy", it will clear up a lot and is very easy to read.

Pretty smart so far? Most people are unable to judge themselves and loved ones fairly.

Jordan Peters said intelligence of children is slightly below the average of the parents. So if i have a 115 IQ (random guess) and wife 80 (also a guess), children will have like 90 Iq. That's a death sentence.

I respect degenerates and people who admit they are degens more than "Christians" who use the name of God to live a life of sin, and pretend everything is good on Sundays.
