Is Microsoft Teams the most infuriating program?

Brb leave your computer for 5 mins and it shows you as away

This program is a snitch … literally designed to be a snitch

And the fact they don’t have an option to have you appear online no matter what is even more infuriating

How do you guys deal with this?

I’ve just started to appear offline at all times

About 18 months ago, I finally signed up for both a Zoom and Teams account because I'm doing a lot of meetings with national Development firms. Literally used Teams once and immediately deleted it from my system and asked for a refund. Now I exclusively use Zoom, which is funny because everybody asks me to send a "Teams Meeting Invite" and I send them a Zoom link.

In general, I try to avoid anything put out by Microsoft nowadays, as it's usually a fucking nightmare to deal with and always way too complicated to use. Just deleting a subscription involves like 30 minutes on the phone with some paj eet.

I'm guessing Teams is better for internal meetings within companies? Where you're basically just meeting with the same group of people every day. But Zoom is far superior for anything else, as you can set up a meeting within 2 minutes.

extend your sleep time on your computer to 30 minutes or an hour, not great in an office setting because people could access your computer, but if you work from home who the hell cares

I'm glad i don't have to do work from home

My boss is like 3 years from retirement and never at work.

I am there like 6-7 hours a day and get paid for 8.

I can do WFH for a day if needed if I have some tradie coming to the house to fix something and don't have to take a vacation day

I turned my settings to always be off and downloaded the app for my phone. People get used to me responded fairly quickly while showing no indication of being online so no one gives a shit the little light is off.

Just do this and if anyone questions it say you feel you're more responsive from your phone and the indicator is off unless you have the app open to respond to someone.

it has gotten a lot better but was by far the worst of the video conferencing options during covid.

Microsoft has a monoply basically on operating systems so they can make absolute dogshit everything and people will just take it

the only good product they've ever made is Excel .... and windows XP

I'm self employed. It wasn't a refund, but I had paid for an entire year and they gave me the prorated amount back.

We have another system that we use for chats/calls luckily. I say luckily because if I put on an a long youtube video, it shows me as active on that system. We still have Teams, but only use it for meetings so I turn it off the rest of the time

Just log off Teams. That is what I do. If they want to contact me, they will physically have to find me (or email, I guess)
