Being serious isn't very healthy. Better to have a laid back and playful approach to life no matter the age.

As a millenial I'm focused on low cortisol maxxing and not being a hardo.

I became a successful adult so I could have the money to enjoy the things I loved as a kid, and then some

No fucks given what anyone else thinks about it. Life is short. Why worry about anyone else

As an elder millennial I hate being grouped in with the younger ones. Completely different worlds.

With that said, plenty my age that are grown ass babies. Our upbringing is 90% of it. I was raised very traditional, religious, small city, backwoods, outside until dark, etc.

I definitely wouldn't call that being an adult-child. The adult-child is defined by their infantile behavior and lack of ability to properly mature as a grown aging adult. What you're talking about sounds more like being young at heart, which is fantastic and something that I think is valuable as people grow up. Like you can be a grown mature ass man who has their shit together and if you enjoy activities that are usually associated with a younger crowd, I think that's great. Shows how you're probably in good shape for you age or still know how to have a good time or let loose once in a while.

Arrested development can be defined by a desire to appear more grown up after all, as that is what is usually associated with kids and teenagers. Well-balanced adults can embrace more youth-oriented activities and shouldn't have to worry about how they are perceived, especially if it's just something like playing video games, reading fiction, or riding a skateboard.

Also, responsibility never tracks without property ownership. Lots of people are responsible when they own the processes in town. Boomers became financial parasites to the next gen

Thing is even millennials who have their chit together just come off as so much younger than previous generations. For example my sister in law just turned 40 and her husband is 43 and they have their chit together. But then I think about when I went to my uncles 40th birthday surprise party back in 2002 and he just came off as so much older than them. He was always a good looking guy too and was in good shape so it's not like he looked like chit and that's why he looked older. Idk if its just because I was a kid back then or what, but people just seemed a lot older back then.

My guess is this is all because of social media. Back in 2002, a 40 year old guy likely was working underneath a bunch of 50 year old guys, and that's the culture he adopted.

Nowadays, a 40 year old guy is on Social Media watching a bunch of shit made by people in their 20s.

Agreed. The generational cutoff should be whether you were raised by social media or not. Older millenials are more like Gen X

It's a combination of better marketing and lack of societal shame

Previously people would be shamed by the older gens for acting like children in adult hood but boomer parents were the hippies who all just wanted to be their kids best friends instead of parents so when they act like ****** as they're older they don't call them out on it

And businesses have capitalized on it. Slap a marvel character on any goi slop item and it sells for double

I'm a 1980 birthday. My wife is '82. I razz her about being a millennial all the time. Really though, the category that fits us both the best is xennial.

Yeah honestly I was born in 1988 and I feel like I have more in common with boomers than zoomers. I work with a zoomer and he's a good guy, but my boomer boss actually gets my movie and tv show references and chit.
