I only vaguely know internet law, but there is some sort of legal doctrine called 'fair use and the internet' that says something like when info and stuff is put out there on the internet for all to see, then it can be quoted freely elsewhere.

Copyright law might be contrary to this in some cases, but I would be curious what lawyers on both sides would argue.
