The west coast as a whole is soft, as much as I hate to say it. I lived in SD for a year, really wanted it to work out if for no other reason than to be able to ride 365 days a year.

Citycels arguing over which city is the best always makes me laugh. Truth is most cities are the same for the typical day-to-day living with how you spend the majority of your time. All of them have plenty of entertainment options with plenty of variety as well. You're mostly splitting hairs on being "better"
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

San Diego is the only place I’ve ever been in California or west of the Mississippi in general (srs). We only visited because my dad’s friend was stationed there for a while, but even though I was a kid, the impression it left was very good. SD seems to offer a high quality of life without the typical Cali bullshit (phaggotry, junkies, entitlement). Perfect weather too. I hear the homeless problem is worse these days and it’s expensive AF, but when I was there it was apparently a fairly conservative area. I’d like to give it another try from an adult perspective.

From a foreigners pov out of all the American cities I’ve been to my favourite was Huntington beach.

I guess that’s not really a city so I will just say orange county.

From the area and met my human here

She refuses to leave despite the asinine COL

Perfect weather

Legal weed

The Best Mexican food in the US

Traffic isn’t bad for an area its size and is nothing like LA ( not yet atleast and WFH helps now)

Gorgeous area and beaches

Plenty to do

Lots of attractive people

The only cons are the junkies , insane COL ( Bay Area tier now with Midwest salaries) and it’s gotten more crowded since the pandemic

Also : CA is a terrible place for gun ownership. There’s the consignment loophole if you’re rich for handguns but you’ll never be able to own a real AR-15 here.
