v1.4.8: Mentions Now Available Using @username

Hi

TL;DR: Mentions are now enabled in v1.4.8 - simply type @username to ping someone (do not wrap them in BBCode).

I've been ironing out the remaining bugs from the notifications system over the past few weeks while also working on v1.5. As things have become more stable, I've now enabled mentions - a simple way to ping other users.

To mention someone, just use @username in a post (not the thread title!). For example:

@allfather

Please do not wrap mentions inside BBCode (square brackets).

Mentions are case-insensitive, so @ALLFATHER, @aLLfaTher, etc. will all work. However, the spelling must be exact.

This implementation is still very basic. In an upcoming update (likely v1.4.9 or v1.4.10), I'll add autocomplete to make typing mentions much easier. For now, this should be enough to get started.

I think you should probable disable your @ tag Allfather. People are just going to spam and bug you non-stop when it's not necessary and maybe only have it enabled on certain days of the week and/or if a user is online or been on the message boards for the past week.

I made the choice not to create notifications for ”self mentions”. If you or someone else would find them useful we can make it happen.
