The boomer vote was actually nearly 50-50 in 2024. Gen X is our last hope to trend more conservative, they voted Trump by double digits.
It’s actually pretty crazy to see the boomer vote that split, because on Long Island, the white boomer vote is heavy Italian American and other White Catholic, and while there’s no specific polling on this demographic on Long Island, just by anecdote they seem to be at southern baptist levels of Trump support around here, only they don’t hold their nose due to his personality and vote for him anyway, they actually love his personality too. So it’s definitely a bit of a bubble when it comes to the perception of boomers around here

I cant tell you how many older guys I talk to who vote straight (R) their whole lives and these are very successful intelligent men who are clueless on Israel/immigration, etc

For example when I was in high school from 2002-2006 the prospect of gays marrying was unthinkable and bizarre to most people around me. And I live in suburban NY, not rural Texas. Fast forward to 2016 and the president was now sending out directives to public schools that they must allow troon men to use the girls bathroom. And half of the country applauds it.
