Just took the time to actually read it this year. It is obviously fake. Kind of mind blowing tbh. Took me 30+ years to realize this.

Not so much the new testament (except for the contradictions between the gospel accounts). But the old testament is obviously a made up, man-made tale. It's ridiculous, vile and nasty. No modern person, without bias and preprogramming, could read the old testament and genuinely believe that, 1. The events actually took place, 2. Adonnai is a "loving" God that you'd want to serve.

Once you remove the vail of religious programming and read it without bias, you can't unsee it

I have mixed feelings about the Bible. I was raised by atheist parents and lapsed Catholic grandparents, so religion was never important to me growing up. However as I grew older, I began exploring spirituality, found a girl who is a Christian and now I find myself in the believer camp.

But that doesn't mean I don't question things.

The Old Testament is FULL of bullshit. Far too many stories come across as fantastical and ridiculous. God sending bears to maul 42 children because they mocked a bald guy, or killing a guy for pulling out of his brother's wife instead of ejaculating inside of her, plus all the rape, genocide and vengeance beyond the confides of believability. It starts right at the beginning of Genesis, too. Giants roaming the earth makes me cringe. It’s so clearly made up.

The New Testament at least feels grounded in truth. When I read about the Ministry of Jesus, I trust the word. It resonates with me to the point where I actually believe there’s a chance the resurrection could've occurred as written.

The lessons are still good tho

I think if someone were to follow the teachings of Christ without necessarily believing in any of it literally they would be better off and live a better life

Faith started to erode in my early 20's. Reading the OT is what totally turned me off from it, mainly being the book of Judges.

All of the OT is vile, and is the reason why there is so much suffering in the world today. America's sole focus is on what is best for Israel, headed by freaks like Mike Huckabee and Pete Hegseth. And it all revolves around the OT.

Then I started to read Bart Ehrman, and it pretty much took me to the void of nihilism, because I just couldn't see the NT as a reliable source of truth any longer.

I also read "the Bible unearthed", and it pretty much lays out that nothing in the OT is historical. From Genesis all the way through the Monarch's in Judea.

In Will Durants history of the Roman Empire there wasn't one mention of Jesus in the section about Tiberius' reign after Octavian.

Durant didn't include anything, because he didn't believe the Gospels were historical accounts.

You would think the Romans would have recorded something about Jesus during his time on earth, but there wasn't.

Those type of ideas made me think, for a time, maybe the Mythers were correct, until I read Ehrmans book on Jesus' existence.

I've been reading a lot about the Gnostics lately, and that view holds a lot of credibility to me. It better explains more of what I see on the day to day.

But it vastly contradicts from official cannon, and was suppressed during the infancy of Christianity.
"I am a rational animal who occupies the intermediary position between angel and beast"

"The upper class is afforded their position by the collective burden the underclass must carry for them"

I was around 9-10. I preferred Nietzsche and Immanuel Kant’s philosophical musings over family tale books.

Corinthians
The Bible is foolishness to those who perish (You op)

In the end we’ll all know the truth no matter what we believe . You can’t argue because atrocities such as rape, famine, and genocide happened that there cannot be a god. You can just argue he’s not an all loving god due to he’s also a discipliner a punisher etc ruler.
