I want one too. I’m so tempted to gig work full time but I’m scared of losing my retirement matching and of course health benefits :( I guess the health benefits would be easiest to replace if there’s still cheap state insurance or whatever .

Idgaf about my pension I have to work for 8 more years to get anything out of it and I highly doubt I’ll still be doing this shit that long. Biggest concern is steady money and healthcare plus probably not easy to find decent gig work

Look into tower crane operating. Or just a regular mobile crane. Mobile crane is easier to find jobs but worse pay and less chill. If you want to be a real force to reckon with you get a truck dirving liscence so you can drive around the mobile crane without a babysitter.

Try and write 20 books with ChatGPT or something.

It’s like VC - one will surely hit.

Then you have a digital product that scales without any further time or effort. Become an expert in brain rot and figure out what’s popular. Maybe Looksmaxxing.

Create something once and your pay to hours worked ratio gets exponentially larger as time goes on whereas your pay to hours worked ratio stays the same with a job.

You’re chasing a unicorn.

Careers that allow tons of vacation time typically do not pay well.

Careers that pay well typically demand more of your time.

WFH is also largely dead in 2026. There are some fully remote opportunities that still exist, but for the most part they are either shit tier minimum wage call center roles or highly specialized corporate positions that require either an advanced degree, or a depth or experience in a niche industry. Normies aren’t getting hired to work remote anymore. If you’re lucky, your boss might let you work hybrid.

And that’s what sucks about life, man. We waste our prime years slaving way for Nr. Moseberg while the world passes us by. Then once we’re too frail to continue, we get the privilege of retirement. The government cuts us a measly social security check that couldn’t even pay for a studio apartment. I guess the smart ones among us will have a decent 401(k) or IRA to make up the difference. Yet by that point you’re not enjoying your freedom much. Your parents will be dead. So will most of your friends and extended family. Society will be unrecognizable from the one you grew up in. If you had kids, they might stick around to comfort you if they weren’t brainwashed by their liberal universities, but it becomes a lonely existence waiting to die.

If you choose to withdraw from society early, you’re just going to rot away in a poverty “minimalist” lifestyle. Your home will be some rural shithole or ghetto cesspool. The loneliness will be unchanged. Doesn’t sound like fun to me.

A minuscule percentage of the population will be able to escape the matrix early with a small fortune to enjoy it, but unless you’re putting a ton of work in up front or were born with a silver spoon in your mouth, that’s not you. It’s not me either.

I will give you a serious answer.

I was able to get a work from home job because my companies office is 2000 miles away from where I am and they needed a local sales guy for my location.

The move is to target firms headquartered across the country that need someone on the ground in your market.
