Based off my research even if you are getting screwed on a high interest mortgage it’s still a good deal because you can write off the interest portion of the mortgage and deduct it from your earnings so even if all you do is break even after expenses your still pretty much getting a free tax free house minus your down payment.

You can't write off interest for a primary place of residence, unless US law is different to Australia

Stop trying to chime in on threads where you know nothing about the topic at hand, and didn't even bother to read the title, and you won't get called out lol.

For those who are curious - the US has the mortgage interest deduction - interest on the first $750,000 of mortgage indebtedness is deductible, subject to limitations.

The biggest limitations are that you have to already be itemizing your deductions, and it's subject to the $40,000 per year SALT cap.
