Carpentry & Woodworking Crew - Rate My Table Work & Give Me Tips

I'm trying my hand at rebuilding old furniture. Found a table on facebook marketplace to give it a shot. This is the result so far sanded down, stained with one layer of clear coat although i'm going to add two or three more coats before calling a quits. Tips and constructive criticism welcome.

cool and all but is it really profitable? i've seen those videos where someone buys something ..stains it then sells it for a $1000 or whatever. seems very implausible considering time involved.

obvs i don't mean finding furniture from the early 1800s or something.

You need to re-scourge it at a slightly higher angle with an elevator reshape tool and apply a mix (70/30) of Goldman's Oak Polish & Cherry Oil and repeat x3 then apply WoodBeams's protective lotion finisher.

Not doing it for money. My old kitchen table is really dated and I don't like it. So I thought before buying a brand new table I would try my hand at reworking something I found cheap. Some guy on FB sold me the table and six chairs for twenty bucks. I almost felt bad because I easily would have paid more.

Not about money, i'm keeping it. I sanded it down which you can see in the second pic. The reason I didn't do the legs is because I have six chairs that have a matching color.

In those videos, i'm almost convinced that the don't actually do the work, and they just step in for the camera shots, especially the automotive videos. Funny how in their videos they never run into stripped heads or rusted on bolts and their fingernails are absolutely pristine

Mirin hard. Building furniture was one of my dream jobs srs.

I haven't done it since I was 18 but woodworking is fulfilling AF. If I'm ever blessed to own property, I plan on setting up my own shop.

Also nice thread, much better than arguing with the usual septics and the fluffers of the current person running things .
I didn't mind the color after I sanded it but the walls are light gray and the cabinets are white so it would clash with the rest of the room, but I do see where you're coming from

I hate to disappoint you, but I'll be back to my normal shit posting presently🤣🤣🤣

Final update - twenty dollars for a table and six chairs, I think this is a pretty good return on my money. At least good enough, that im not gonna pay five hundred dollars for a new kitchen table set.
