Thought of having children and be forced to work for 18 more years to raise them is sickening to me

If I were 30-35, maybe I could've done it as I was more motivated to work

But now at age 41, the thought of having to work 18 more years is sickening.

Thoughts/feedback?

I personally wouldn’t have traded being a dad and husband for anything. My son is 19 and daughter is 17. Been married 22 years and have enjoyed it all. I suppose it’s not for everyone but being a dad is a blessing. The curse for me would be not having kids.

Well you don't have to start from scratch.

There are probably some nice 30 something single moms out there. Find one with kids in the 8 to 12 range and you will only be in for 10 years.

Well first, he definitely doesn’t have kids lol. And second, he probably has some “idealized” vision of 1950’s life in his head where he thinks men just ate food, had sex and went to sleep when they came home from work. In reality, it was never like that though. My grandfather and great uncles raised kids in the 50’s and 60’s and they were all extremely active fathers and who put in a lot of effort at home for their families

As far as I can tell my grandfathers just sat around and drank and watched TV after they got home

Their kids don't really like them though so that's the trade off
