My former car was a big flex and really I regret it. Not just a waste of precious money but also it makes your life harder in many ways such as dealing with jealousy, being preoccupied with protecting it from the plebes etc. There is not much upside to it.

yes. A lot of poor and lower middleclass people spend what little money they have on cars, clothes, jewelry etc just to appear wealthy. It is kind of sad because everyone can see right through them.

The majority don't make any assumption about you at all because they don't even notice you exist unless you stiff them on a tip or cut them off in traffic or some such. At least not in a big metro area. Small towns could be different.
