I guess we feel like the world we live in is too complex/big/random to be a simulation....but if we are a product of the simulation how can we have thoughts that are outside the simulation?

or what if we are just one of an infinite amount of unimportant simulations that kids make....maybe some of them are created and keep running without the kids even paying attention. even time could be different to those observing the simulation...imagine the simulation creator's experience being equivalent to what we know as spending a few months playing a video game...they are viewing what we see as beginning-now as a hobby.

We probably do. The worst of it is, the ones that built our simulation may be living in a simulation and we're likely destined to build a simulation on that level too.

Why wouldn't God be the creator of the simulation? Would fit the whole omnipotent and omniscient thing. Presumably whoever built and is managing said simulation could change the rules/adjust the parameters and is recording at least some data from it.

A 1:1 universe simulation would be an incredibly useful tool.
