Anybody else LOL at boomers and their stupid old cars?

Literally only good for straight line speed. Stop light to stop light grocery store runs. Its why they always drive to the nearby burger joint because thats all those rusty cans are good for. Then they sit in the garage till next Sunday.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a Chevelle, but it would need a complete overhaul in regards to suspension. Most boomers put all their money into the engine and that's it.

Beautiful machine. I want to get another foxbody mustang for a weekend toy. I got my fox around tje time I created my account on bb.com hence “Fiveliter” being in my name.

I was going to blow 60k on a 2011 c6 zr1 corvette in early 2021 but my mother convinced me to save my shekels. I took her advice and glad I did. However, that same car is going for its original msrp of 90-108k which is absolutely abysmal.

I love third gen camaros, third gen nova’s, and fourth gen malibu coupe’s.

I loved that car but if I ever had an incident and broke a T-roof you’re basically fked .

Right after I bought it I was at a customers house and he had just painted and put up for sale his 1970 Mustang Fastback . 69 and 70 are my favourite Mustangs , so had I seen it early I would have bought it instead .
I wouldn’t molest the TA as it was totally stock right down to the 8 track player and space saver spare , but in the case of the Mustang Fastback I think it was a 351 .
Srs I’d toss the 351 and install a dual quad 428 Super Cobra Jet and a 4 speed stick . I’ve always been a stick guy when it comes to Classic cars ,but unfortunately all 3 of my TransAms were automatics .
I had an 81 Z28 with a 4 speed stick and I found it way more fun to drive

i'd typically agree if new cars werent total POS these days to milk out late stage capitalism prices while lowering the cost the vehicle actually took to build without a hundred shitty middle men taking their cut

i was at the honda dealership yday getting my headlight bulb replaced and the dude next to me had a newer honda that was recalled for some bs. i was overhearing their discussion and it wasnt his first time getting recalled. something about rear view camera causing electrical issues and blah blah or w/e. i'd be pissed if i had to get service for that bs

It should be illegal for boomers to drive. They are a liability to everyone around.

Diaper wearing asses deliberately getting in the way pretending they don’t know what they are doing.

Gd I fucking hate boomers.

My car is 2017. I hope that isn't "old". Has well under 100k miles on the clock anyway, like 85k I think.

My dad has a couple old Porsche from the 1950s. He thinks they’re each worth like $500k, but I keep telling him that there will be absolutely no interested buyers for them in about 10 years and he should sell if he thinks he can get that,

Based on your history of predicting things, in 10 years they’ll each be worth a cool million

in imaginary dollars, because your “dad” doesn’t exist and even if he did he’d never acknowledge your existence beyond the 10 bucks he left on your mum’s nightstand

$500k is a fucking stretch but Porsches are definitely in a bubble. You used to be able to get a 912 for less than $20k pre-covid. Now some of them go for $80k, or even six figures if in concours condition.

The 930's pricing went absolutely fucking insane as well, they were about $130k on average last I checked. Not even good to drive.

This can't last, prices are already coming back towards reality. But yeah. Fucking nuts.

Yeah, I just think that once the Boomers are gone in about 10 years I can't imagine any Gen X people would ever consider buying old cars like that. Even if they have the money, an old car that isn't particularly fun to drive isn't going to be a hot collector's item.

I dunno, old Mustangs, GTOs, Barracudas, etc all drive like shit but fucking hell they look good. Restomods are also a thing if you're into a bit of sacrilege. Even just adding modern suspension makes a massive difference.

Then you have things like the Gen 1 (E28?) M5 from the mid-80s, which drives amazingly if you know what you're doing.

Depends on the new cars you're talking about

2012 - 2019 was peak. Easy affordable performance you can drive year round. No Ipads for a dashboard.

$30k may have needed a bit of work but you could definitely get a very good one for $60-70k in 2020 or so.

Like I said, it's all gone absolutely crazy.

I have 3 classic/antique cars, they all have fuel injection, all have cruise control, all have overdrive. The only problem is though that its virtually impossible to get a modern car experience because they don't ride as well, have more road noise, wind noise is very hard to eliminate. One of them has a new take out 2020 7.3 Ford Godzilla with a TKX in it, and while it drives great, it still isn't modern car level. Its been upgraded with a mustang 2 front suspension which is still a 50+ yr old design.

If I was a top notch fabricator/car builder I'd love to swap an older body onto a modern chassis, where you get the new cars interior, suspension, hvac, comfort features with the styling of a classic but thats beyond my skill level.

A concourse ready 356A or B can fetch over $400k depending on the provenance and if the parts are matched. Speedsters are going a little higher.

I recommend doing some research on recent auction prices as a lot of European cars like the 356 and the Mercedes 300SL are still very much sought out. Value has remained consistent for a number of years.

Look at this old skule Grand Marq! This one is way overpriced but I had one like it years ago.

https://www.fallcreekmotorcars.com/vdp/23900338/Used-2009-Mercury-Grand-Marquis-LS-Ultimate-for-sale-in-Humble-Kingwood-Atascoci-TX-77396

Would recommend for the "pay cash for cars, no car payment " crew who wants a long lasting dependable car thats like driving a comfortable couch down the road. Floaty suspension vehicle that just torques right along with her buttery smooth V8 engine.
