I think we are too dependent on modern technology for our own good.

It is only being used against us, and to exploit us.

It actually got forced through in 2021 or something as part of an unrelated funding bill (many such cases).

But the tech isn't there, manufacturers don't want the liability, and there's enough backlash in Congress (now that people are aware of it) to render it effectively dead.

A good chunk of the government sees you as an inconvenient pack of retarded children though.

From their perspective we literally are.

This applies to your government/population relationship as well.

Why do you think Obombo did that insane "cash 4 clunkers" thing?

TO destroy as many WORKING older vehicles as possible, to destroy the used car part market so people cannot fix up their older cars...

These globalists have been working for DECADES to usher us into the tyrannical dictatorship NWO future, where all our cars can be shut down for going over our "carbon allowance" or for leaving our "15 minute city", or for having WrongThink and having incorrect opinions...

Oh I know. Being in government is basically:

1. How much can you bank from lobbyists, poorly veiled bribes ("speaking tours" and "book deals"), and insider trading
2. We're all geniuses and we're taking care of retarded toddlers so how do we get rid of all the sharp objects?

God I hate those fucking pricks. And the worst of it is, you need to be a brown nosed little shit to get into any position of power anyway.

They already have that.

Many such deaths have occurred because outside forces wen into the car's electronics and used them to kill the occupant.

Yet, there are still fagg0ts that will call people like us crazy and brainwashed coNspirAcy tHeoriSts. There aren’t anymore secrets or things to uncover. They’re blatantly telling us to our faces because they’ve realized that the npc’s are content and accepting of this madness.

You've just reminded me how much the phrase "trust the science" makes me want to deck people.

Probably the most "I'm trying to sound enlightened and intelligent but this is actually the exact opposite" collection of words ever assembled.

Yes but it will be much more brazen, you will be required to wear a smart watch at all times which has the capacity to remotely deploy a lethal injection into your wrist. Over time it will become normalized that your expiry date is scheduled so that everyone has a predetermined time of death after he is no longer productive

That is what I don’t get, how is it enjoyable to completely give up personal identity just to be a tool?

That is hard for me to understand or empathize with. I simply do not get it.

"Government" itself is its own entity with its own interests. If you want to be part of that, there are rules you play by.

Probably why they were genuinely so pissed off at Trump first time round. Hilary was about as establishment as it gets and the voters slapped the machine right in the face. Same shit with Brexit.

It's all a load of bullshit and I might just move to the fucking woods at this point. Mind, these control freak fucks just won't leave people alone, no matter how far away they try to get.

Two things. Criminals will find a way around it. Other criminals may find a way to use it to disable someone's car for their own criminal activities. This includes government criminals.

Oh, read about how on some Jeeps people are getting pop up ads on their audio displays. Imagine you have to watch an ad to start your car.

A bigger problem is subscription packages. The BMW rent your heated seats thing from a couple of years back was the thin end of the wedge.

Cars will be a little cheaper, but you'll need to pay monthly to use any of their features beyond basic driving.

I almost hope they do let Chinese car companies give these companies a bit of competition.

I'm a diesel tcch and 2008+ diesel vehicles here in the US, if you have a problem with the emissions system it will give you a warning and after so many miles it will limit you to 5mph or something close to that. You can't just clear the code because there is a DTC that stays there and until the system has completed it's checks to be sure the system is working before it will clear. Sometimes there are resets and calibrations performed with the factory scan tool that will give you a very small window to actually operate the vehicle but if it detects the same condition, it will shut you back down. The EPA wanted to do this with all vehicles, but it was rejected.

That's part of the problem with it. It works for manufacturers in some ways. Their C-Suites have been obsessed with looking "green" (even if they're cheating like VW) for years. Then with things like that, you usually need proprietary (and often very expensive) shit from them to fix any issues. Which means customers can't work on their own cars, and often can't even pick a cheaper independent local shop. They're stuck with the dealership or a chain of garages that charges out the arse.

It's the sort of shit that's genuinely worth lobbying your congressmen over. They may actually listen with shit like this. The sneaky fuckers pushing for this nonsense do try to fly it in under the radar though, like with the bill OP is talking about.

I've been saying for 5 years they are going to do "climate lockdowns" at some point in the future, where you will be told it'd mandatory to save the planet, most idiots will buy right into it, they will require access to your car over cellular networks, it will be shut down during portions of the week and you have to stay home

They started putting out articles during COVID talking how great the lockdowns were for CO2 emissions. I could see where they are going with this

There will be exemptions for the elites of course just like there was for covid

It's the sort of shit that's genuinely worth lobbying your congressmen over. They may actually listen with shit like this. The sneaky fuckers pushing for this nonsense do try to fly it in under the radar though, like with the bill OP is talking about.
The right to repair act usually fails even when it passes. It's usually a compromise that ends up being on the manufacturer's favor. I work for a manufacturer's dealer and you can buy a subscription aftermarket but it's somewhat limited depending on which tool and equipment you have. Some aftermarket shops bring it to us for programming rather than deal with the problems associated with this.

Oh they're also starting to lock down their canbuses with encryption

Of course they say it's for your safety

But that means you cant read all the data to.diagnose and have to take it to the dealer to get fixed,.which they can drop your model at any time. And it doesn't need to be encrypted if it's not connected to 5g in the first place
