So is everyone just buying $50k+ cars?

Im always looking at the newest cars coming out and just wondering how people are affording these things when the average cost of a midsize sedan or car is $50k


If you want 'affordable' you're stuck with a small 4 cylinder turbo with zero options

I got a little sedan for around $22k. No complaints so far. I lol when coworkers drive around in $70,000 pickups and SUVs and then tell me about their student loans.

I’ve seen people that basically lease a car for like $500 to $700 a month. Then when that lease is up they are slightly over miles or they have some minor damage on the car the dealer says to them if they stay with the same brand and upgrade slightly, they will forgive or roll over the costs from the original car. So they are basically just stuck leasing in perpetuity.


I was driving Mercedes, then just before the pandemic I bought a stock Camry that has given me 0 problems though 70k miles.

But I’m getting older and there is some social embarrassment to be driving an older Camry while most people in my social circle are all driving bmw or better.

I kinda want to upgrade to something nicer, but all I ever hear is that it’s not worth buying these luxury cars. You don’t want to own them past 50k miles. And I don’t want to be leasing cars for ever. It just seems retarded

I got rid of my redneck Hemi truck a few years ago, along with the payment for the turck and insurance, for an old Toyota Avalon. It's nice to have no car payment and cheap insurance, but sometimes I do miss being like a higher class of people, so iunno.

They aren't. The average normie is so deep in debt they can't even keep track of it. Before Covid in like 2018, 78% of cars on the road were being financed. That number is probably 90% today.

A base Corolla is still like $22k or $24k new. It's perfectly fine. The Elantra is around that as well. Civic is a little pricier.

Everyone in a $50k+ car is probably leasing it for $500-1000 per month. Which someone on an average income can pay, even if them "affording" it is a bit of a stretch.

I drive 'em til they die. Last CR-V - 20 yrs. This "new" one still going strong 10 yrs later.
No car payments, house has been paid off for 15+ yrs, zero debt, make 180K+.

my car was 27k in 2016. still driving it, only 50k miles.



i dont even like new cars, a lot of them dont even have physical AC controls anymore. Mine still has a normal parking brake not that gay e brake bullshit much less things like engine shut off at red lights, volume and HVAC controls on touchscreen, 5g telemetry sending them all your data.

Its a double whammy, new cars are retarded plus they charge like 10-15k more than they should be from 6 years ago.



If I say my car got totalled i would probably buy a used car and somethign simple, a mazda 3 or something. I am not paying 50k for some basic bitch soccer mom car they are nuts

if youre getting older youre also getting closer to retirement, all those luxury cars arent worth it unless maybe a used lexus but i wouldnt sell your camry at 70k miles
