Humble brag thread but was honestly shocked and just wanted to share.

My older sister has gotten some interesting results in genealogy research lately. We all just expected farmers etc, but she found several noble lines and families which allowed it all to go deeper in history. Otherwise you’re usually stuck at 17th century or so. 

Previously discovered that the family Bielke had a queen, 1568, Gunilla Bielke, which was cool. 


But these later findings are crazy as they are lineal relationships — meaning a direct line of descent from ancestor to descendant.

i heard with the dna tests if someone in ur family mixed with races it will show up in ur dna too even tho u dont got any. for ex: if ur aunt married a brown and had half brown kid cousins that would show up as some % in ur dna line. i could be wrong tho just heard the rumour

Plus I did one of those DNA tests and it came out like 10% scandi. No Danes or Swedes in my family tree, so that must just all be from vikings fucking their way across medieval England.

Im glad my mom is into the ancestry stuff. She made a very thorough family tree and it's cool seeing my ancestors make their way from scotland/other areas and into the original US colonies, then onward to the westward expansion to the Midwest where a lot of them still reside. I wonder how their lives were back in the Virginia/PA colony areas, probably farmers or some chit making their way through life and dodging the injuns

Yeah, so much intertwined history - and I bet alot older than ppl think - considering amber road etc was already going 1k bc or 2 thousand years before vikings. Maybe these ppl saw each other as one even at some points.

I think the Danes and the English are genetically very close. Almost identical (which makes sense considering the Angles and Jutes were from Denmark and the Saxons from just below it).

We were a part of the Kingdom of Norway a few times, and would've been in 1066 had Harold Godwinson not won against Harold Harrada (before going south and losing to Billy the Bastard about two weeks later).

Old English (the language) is essentially norse too. Very close to modern Icelandic.
