I quit my job back in January. I worked in broadcasting for about 30 years. I liked being able to watch TV and get paid for it, especially during all the down time, but I'm done with it. Stupid overnight shifts.

Despite obviously being exciting as fuck on here I actually have a pretty boring consultancy job. Semi-retired though and the hours are minimal. Half tempted to just "retire" completely but I'm worried I'll get bored/feel pointless. So I might keep it up to a minimal level.

It's all self-employed contract work anyway so I have a ton of flexibility. Technically "remote" but an amount of "on-site" stuff is required.

Half the year I don't work at all. The other half I live in what is essentially an unlocked prison cell and work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Is this like oil rig?

I wouldn't mind that as long as it's not manual labor on the rig

Been WFH for over a decade now (IT Security / Network Eng). Dont even have to travel (never really did) we ship routers, firewalls, switches, etc to our sites (we have 100+ locations) the local site support racks, stacks, connects to console, and we setup entire sites remotely (site support also cables everything up for us).

Just trying to get thru 2 more years of this before I retire. Been here 26 years, so ya, burnt out and tired. (In 26 years this is my 7th company name change (mergers, acquisitions).

At least I dont need to go anywhere. I lift at home, work from home...

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Working in my garage atm . Ya it needs some srs organizing

I bought a 2k camera a few years ago and never installed it in the alley , so I decided to put it in the garage a few days ago . I’m actually impressed with the detail considering it’s only a 2K camera . All my outdoors are 4K .
It lost a lot of resolution when I uploaded it . The original snap shot is far cleaner and looks much cleaner zoomed up

Engineering management in the nuclear sector. It is somewhat rough to be completely honest, it is certainly a challenge. I work with a lot of extremely smart and driven people who are very serious about what they do. The regulation, procedures and oversight add additional complexity to every step of trying to build something. I have 7 engineers under me plus a bunch of pet projects on the top. An example from the other week of a rough day:

0645-0730 Emails/Teams/Reports.
0730-0830 1:1 with my boss.
0830-1100 Safety Analysis meeting pt1.
1100-1230 Meeting with city for permit pre-submittal presentation (smashed it btw).
1230-0100 quick lunch.
0100-0430 Safety Analysis meeting pt2.

This was all while I was answering emails and teams to/from my team and others. I have approx 80M worth of equipment/facility under my direct purview and most of it contains hazardous materials, I and other take it serious. srs.
