The misc has always made racial jokes and euphemisms like basketball American, jokes about the BBC etc. But most of it was in jest. It became more extreme in the mid-10s, as did the rest of the Internet due to all the terrorist attacks and race agenda shit pushed by the media in the 2010s and the Internet shifting more left and chronically online leftists calling everyong racist bigots, and then especially after BLM became a thing. It made places like the misc become breeding grounds for "extreme" views, because you weren't allowed to talk about it anywhere else. Same with 4chan.

The world and Internet have generally become more polarised in the last 6-7 years, though. Even this place is nowhere near as bad as regular social media these days; where you can be as racist as you want with little oversight by anything other than automoderation filters, unless your account has been flagged, and you'll see things like the weird combo of white supremacists, Indians/Pakistanis, and Muslims all praising Hitler and posting Sieg Heils. Children also can openly salute Hitler and be praised on platforms like Instagram, without repurcussions these days.
