The valuation literally doesn’t make sense.

But Elon’s business model is to get people’s money based on fantastical lies that will never come true.

And also to buy the US government which of course increases shareholder confidence.

I don't think he cares. He's been worth $500B+ for 5 years now, and still lives a pretty spartan lifestyle. It doesn't change a thing, this IPO is mostly a fundraise for the company and to cash out all his Space X people who've been working for below market wages for 20 years.

No, but this was also the reason I never bought TSLA even though the stock price went ripping. People bought TSLA because they were all behind the idea of green energy and electric vehicles. Even with spacex crazy valuation, people like to buy the emotion/idea of a promising future. Space exploration is about as idealistic as possible.

I don't either and I have looked into it. I just don't see it.

They technically have xAI under the spacex umbrella and even though it is losing money, AI is getting $ thrown at it. Their actual rocket industry is obviously solid, probably bordering on monopoly at this point. Starlink is solid with very little overhead.

That said, I am staying out for now and I have a feeling I will be waiting a long time before it gets to a price level I would throw money at.
