Some of you may not know but im a huge hardcore boxing fan.

Been to around 15 fights at MSG and used to post on several boxing websites. One was boxing scene.

That forum used to be like old misc with its posting vplume just endless discussions etc...during fights the website would actuslly crash because there was so much traffic.

Last 6 years some jews bought it and the forums turned to shit and its completely dead. I was a memeber since 2007 with prolly 50k posts.

And now its just gone. All the users ive interacted with just went their seperate ways in life. Life can be so weird.

The other boxing forum i belong too eastsideboxing banned me last year for posting that a commentor was a DEI hire. I was a 2007 join date too. Fuck them.

So now i have no boxing community. Reddit/boxing is awful...its foilled with genz or zoomers who havent followed the sport long enogough and down vote my posts.

That fucking sucks man. I never registered but I would lurk on boxing scene all the time, especially at the peak of my interest in the sport around 2015-2022.

Forums getting scrubbed is terrible for digital free speech and open discussion too. The conversations that used to occur on forums are now moving to Reddit, which is fully controlled. Plus the loss of archival material, even something as trivial as raw reactions to a big fight from 10 years ago has historic value.

The internet should, in theory, be primary source material for future generations looking back on our era. If websites keep getting erased, so do records of our existence. With everything going digital, it’s not far fetched to imagine 1000 years from now there will be less evidence of 21st century humanity than of 11th century humanity.

Something Awful is still going strong but you have to pay to post and they can ban you for random minor shit and then extort another fee out of you to post again. I mean it's $10 and not monthly or anything but imagine actually paying just to post somewhere like that, it's pretty cucked.

I needed some computer advice the other day

I went to anandtech which used to be HUGE even in 2020 covid it was still super active but the subsection I needed is dead

So I tried posting on reddit. And like 200 virgins viewed the question and just down voted it without a single answer

I ended up using AI and at first I thought it gave me a solid answer but further research found out it was 50% wrong and it was just citing over simplified google searches

What a joke no human interaction on the net anymore and stupid ass AI basically gets all its info from Google searches on reddit so any wrong stuff it just regurgitates

I hate the AI google thing. I actually engaged it back and forth on something a couple months back. It was giving me information on how to change something in BIOS regarding my CPU. After following the advice though not actually changing anything because I didn't trust it, I found that the option wasn't even there. I told it that and it came back with "You're so right I'm sorry for the confusion those instructions are for this other such and such motherboard." I then told it to stop giving out advice when it's not sure especially involving sensitive stuff like BIOS settings that could really fuck someone's PC up.

It wouldn't give a response when I repeated the same initial query from a different private window after that. So it can be "trained" but yeah in general it's very shitty and just pulls from the most popular sources that are semi-relevant and doesn't confirm the specifics.

If you need computer help Tom's Hardware forums are still active but I've had mixed results there. They have a bit of an elitist culture there and dress down people for making mistakes that are obvious to people who are PC veterans but that casual users likely wouldn't know.

Also they locked one of my threads just because the software I was asking about could be used for piracy purposes. It wasn't even piracy software it was an image downloading tool for like online photo galleries and such. And I wasn't even asking how to get it to work, I was asking if it was a virus because the download looked suspicious and I was concerned about the integrity of my machine.

Even though I virus scanned it and uploaded the files to Virustotal before running anything the install process was kind of sus it had a .bat file to install it. All I got was "well you should have known better than to run a .bat file, only thing you can do to be sure is wipe everything and do a clean OS install, and even then something could be in your RAM or something." They were basically telling me to build a new PC lol.
