Average lifespan hasn't improved much if at at all.

Interactions between the sexes were better...people dating in healthy ways, having more kids, etc.

Cars may not have been quite as reliable, but were cheaper and easier to service/repair.

Homes were more affordable and it wasn't some big ordeal to just go buy a house.

Less addiction...now you have 90% of people that are addicts via smartphones.

Movies and music were better

Kids were better behaved in schools and teachers had more control of classrooms

think it'll get worse or eventually better in 50-100+ years? maybe people will look at 2000-2100 (or however long) as sorta a dark time that they are glad they didn't live in. maybe it'll be seen as rough times when tech and humans were were learning how to coexist. 🤷‍♂️

what goes into quality of life? when i look it up i see it being physical/mental/social health. are people really healthier in all those areas today? i feel like people are way less mentally and socially healthy.

i think a lot of people that were living back then expected the future to be even better...maybe way better....then they look at today's world and it's a let down.

Information? Got it at your fingertips at all time. Whether it's for professional or educational needs, or it's hobby information, etc. There's a wealth of online information that simply did not exist 25-35 years ago. People's knowledge of things is also, typically better than in the past. Access to facilities and equipment? Again, better than ever before. Gyms and hobby spaces are easier to build than ever before. Going hand-in-hand with the information access, you can more easily access and learn ways to engage with hobbies and pastimes without having to rely on days for forum post replies, or magazines. Variation in food, and general quality, is probably higher than it was 25-35 years ago.

I could keep going on and on about things that make our quality of life better.

But in terms of happiness? Stagnating economies in the west have absolutely destroyed the financial goals and hopes of two generations. The financial presure is higher than ever before and money does not go as far for what you pay.Social media has absolutely destroyed any semblance of social cohesion, for many reasons. People with lifestyles that you could never have dreamed of are pushing it in your face, making people compare it to their own and either becoming unhappy or scam artists from it. Algorithms sort people into parasocial online communities where people just passively absorb content from a few 'creators' who tell them how to think and act, rather than forming actual communities (one reason I still like forums, because you interact and don't tentpole around a 'creator'). These algorithms tend to support bad news and misinformation above all else because anger gets views and interaction, so again, lots of grifting scammers out to make money for themselves. This all causes huge amounts of social fatigue that makes people unhappy.

We have more things, and better access to said things; but it is not as affordable as it should/could have been and we constantly have unobtainable things pushed in our faces by the super rich.


I need not get into other factors that are affecting social cohesion, like politics, mass migration, etc. that are also contributing towards things being far worse. Like @explosiveMidget said, it's been getting worse for a long time. Arguably even before 2012, but ~2012 was the last time I remember thinking things were at least, alright.

I'm in a distinct position to see both the rise and fall of society. The 80s and 90s were legendary and the improvements to technology and information availability have done wonders for our ability to take care of ourselves (think a DIYer). But what it has also done is make it much easier to corrupt the minds of our population, especially the youth.

Mass immigration, corrupt politicians, exploding cost of living, stagnating wages, massive corporations, and the globalist agenda (jews) have done nothing but create a society where everything is a problem except the actual problems. It's all smoke and mirrors to take your eyes and attention away from the real issues. People in this lifetime will experience a country where the majority of people will be unable to take care of themselves. Not enough money for basic necessities, won't be able to afford vehicles, won't be able to afford healthcare, won't be able to afford food. Every policy created in this country is to funnel more money into someone's pockets except ours.

I give no fucks about sending foreign aid to any other country except warheads on foreheads. Glass the entire middle east and India, do a hard reset on Africa, aggressively kick out all the illegals and instill population control. Then create policy that benefits the populace, not corporations.

I dunno man, to me life is a lot easier than it was 20 years ago. But the reason for that is because my dad is a boomer who wanted me to basically pay for all of my own shit while going to college and such, so I was driving shitty cars and trying to do the same shit as all of my friends while having to pay for it myself doing manual labor jobs and such.

Basically, I didn't get a lot of great mentorship or guidance growing up, and kinda had to figure out everything I've ever accomplished on my own. So now that I've struggled my ass off and finally learned everything myself, life is pretty fucking easy now.
