What are men expected to do to "man up" in today's world?

When men use the term it's usually that they should be independent as possible, work out like mad men, bang chicks like crazy, be ruthless, don't complain. etc.

When women use the term it's usually something about being independent, caring, outgoing, social, empathetic, honest, considerate, etc, etc.

So what does modern man have to do to "be a man" -- are they like soldiers without a war?

What it should mean is accepting your responsibilities as a father or husband and overcoming/destroying any problems you encounter.

You're right though about women. They can subvert that term and take it to mean: "accept my past" "put up with my nagging" "he's just a friend, don't be insecure"

Without crying or complaining, because no one cares.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

seems like "be a man" wasn't something people had to figure out or look to influencers for when there were plenty of legitimate threats out there....world wars, potential of your children starving to death, etc.

we sorta live a life of comfort now where people don't really HAVE TO do anything and women can be as picky/behave as they want without fear of not being able to survive/harsh societal judgement.

this leaves men looking to bros like tate, etc for guidance on what their inner being as a man should be.

They pick and choose when youre supposed to be traditional masculine and new age simp masculine

Don't be toxic masculine and make sure to hire 70% women into your wage slave job but if you complain about anything time to man up and be stoic and even though women have more education and more white collar jobs the man is supposed to pay for everything like it's the 1940s and God forbid you go through divorce court she gets half like she's a 1940s incapable woman and gets majority custody of the kids because we also use traditional gender roles for the family court system too

Manning up is when you see your town, your country, your society, being invaded, crime going up drastically, and actually doing something about it. It's knowing that our children's lives are going to be impacted heavily in 30 years andI'm supposed to just accept that this is how it is. People say if you have a wife and children your priorities are elsewhere, but this is exactly where it should be if you want your kids to go up in a country that is even recognizable to them.

I laugh when people talk about the racism here. I did extensive mission work in Honduras and Ecuador and the first thing they all shout at you is "GRINGO!" among other insults. My family actually housed an Ecuadorian student for 6 months (which is as long as he could stay back then). He got his citizenship in 2021 and he currently is a strong Democrat activist calling America racist for not letting in his entire family and gang. Ungrateful POS. Then I get crippled by a drunk driver who ran a red light. I myself would be an absolute coward if I didn't fight this everyday and said "Oh well, mistakes happen."

manning up is getting up when you don't want to and going to work

manning up is being an example for your children and a stable and honest partner to your spouse

manning up is paying your bills, staying true to your word and being a good human

manning up is not letting outside influences (internet, television, peer group) compromise your core values

manning up means no excuses and taking responsibility to fix problems, even when you didn't cause them

might be right...you do what's "right" without expecting equal return or reward...or even happiness because you know it's just a fleeting emotion that will come and go throughout life. just keep plugging away

don't NOT drive a honda ridgeline if it's best suited for your needs and you're simply worried about conforming to arbitrary opinions of what it is to "be a man"

Agreed. My dad was kind of a lazy fuk, he was a school bus driver and yes he pretty much always went to work but lets be reality it was a job with a lot of downtime in between the entire fuking school day and he was off the entire summer. Instead of getting a second job he just chilled for 2 months and get behind on bills. I mean we never starved or anything, but my family was working class and he did nothing to improve it despite all the downtime that he had. Could not even begin to imagine myself doing that chit, and looking back now that I have kids, it's even more embarrasing to think that I'd be sitting at home for 2 months on unemployment and get behind on bills instead of getting another job.
