Neither. If you want decent quality, find someone who can buy from Sisco or Restaurant Depot or other large suppliers. You have to buy in bulk, but you get better pricing and higher quality.

Neither of these steaks are high quality. They're both on the low end of choice. I wouldn't pay anywhere close to $20/lb for them. Time to switch over to chicken or something that tastes better for the money.

Don't you have a Fresh Market in your strip mall?

They have the best beef of any supermarket, they dry age their cuts in house.

And you can buy a primal cut for half off on Saturdays the butcher will cut the steaks to your preference.

I prefer them to any supermarket, including Stew Leonards.

The difference in quality between those steaks is so low it doesn’t even matter and won’t be noticeable.

I agree that OP should go to a butcher shop and pick out some prime New York strips as he can easily afford it and it will make zero difference financially for him to buy some non-trash steaks at this point in his life.

I try to live on $60K a year or less.

I'm 100% Italian.

I think these steaks look great. Great marbling.
