Its crazy how work takes up 11 hours of our day, 5 days a week.

45 minutes to shit, shower, shave
30 minutes commute each way if you're lucky
8 to 5 work schedule

And you actually have people advocating for full return to office. I don't get it. Whats the thought process?

It doesn't. Lately I get into work at about 930 and am heading out by 330. It's a 20 minute commute each way using the express way, so we're looking at 7 hours at most.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Don’t forget another hour after work at the gym, which technically falls within our free time, but when you’re a sedentary office worker, becomes essential to staying alive. By the time most of us get home, it’s close to 7pm. Then we have to prepare dinner, spend time with our girlfriend/wife, take out the trash/clean/whatever, hopefully get a few moments of peace and then go to bed at a reasonable hour so we’re not destroyed the next day.

I don’t understand how the fuck people with kids do this shit.

Only a 20 minute commute in NoVA? You must live only a few blocks from the office.

Most boomers seem to adopt this mentality. My boss gets here around 9am and stays late into the night almost every day. I get emails with timestamps at like 8:30pm sometimes and I’m like WTF? Who in their right mind would voluntarily work that late? There’s not that much work to do srs.

I live 20 miles away. But I take the express which is never congested. Though it does cost like $25 each way.

How much do you actually “work” when you’re in the office as opposed to fucking around?

I ask this because when I was in an office it definitely didn’t take me 9 hours to get my stuff done. Maybe like 2-3.

I think the concept of time spent at work is so backwards and you should be allowed to leave when you’re done your work.

Trading hours for dollars is the worst man. There’s no correlation between productivity and time spent in office. This morning I’ve worked on a handful of projects, sent a couple emails, but I’ve probably been miscing for quadruple the amount of time it took to do my actual work. Yet I have to keep my ass in this seat to get paid.

So much of modern white collar work revolves around being “available” rather than producing value.

I don’t even have to keep a time sheet either. I’m salary. Still not allowed to leave outside of my scheduled hours.

None of you in this thread thus far have been medically declared or need to be declared retarded like Terz, so you should be able to easily get another job where you like the hours more.. also you officecels want to do less hours but be paid the same but if something comes up and your home, you'll cry if you get a call from the office. AI will soon replace you and you will have no real skills for a trade. start clipping coins like Me No Black

The easiest way to explain it is that AI learns like humans learn and that’s by making mistakes and then learning from them.

It’s called reinforced human learning feedback. Basically the AI will generate multiple responses from a single prompt. The goal is to go through each response and correct and rank each them.

Responses can be slide decks, images, excel output, code and many other types depending on the prompt. Right now I'm analyzing how well the AI generates slide decks from a single prompt. I’m stack ranking 8 different decks against each other and justifying my rankings. It’s easy, boring and tedious lol

You do this stuff on AI training platforms who have clients like OpenAI and Anthropic who buy this data.

I thought it was too good to be true until I said fuck it, signed up and started getting tasks. It’s sick because I can just log in and make 100 bucks whenever I feel like it.

My goal is 30 hours per week. An extra 12k per month would be amazing.

What platform are you thinking? I’m on Mercor. Have had experience on outlier too but their pay is shit.
