No I was a mistake and my parents were never even together srs

My dad was a 24 year old finance bro who forgot to wrap it up and here I am.

Both of them are alive and married

They've been through a lot of financial stress and health scares together, but they've been each other's rock and balance each other out.

It's shaped my handling of relationships by cherishing communication and being patient while also not carrying anybody's dead weight

Thanks bro I appreciate it. My mom and I are super close and while the misc hates single moms I respect her for having to deal with a pregnancy on her own at 22 and figuring it out. Couldn’t imagine having to raise a kid at 22, fuck I couldn’t imaging raising a kid now at 36 lol

Once I read letters my dad sent my mom saying he has nothing in common with me and wishes I was never born lol

No. My parents haven’t been together since 1997 (when I was an infant lmao).

Similar to Brad, I was a mistake. My dad even admitted he wanted to have me aborted, but my mom refused srs. Ironically, she was the one who ended up leaving me so she could party because of her “postpartum depression” and my dad stepped up to raise me as a single parent.

Both 20 years old, no skills, no money, mom was a high school dropout, dad was a pothead burnout.

Blows my mind how I made it as far as I did.

I still love them both.

Damm. Who knows what the 'my young 20 something' self would say if a one nite stand woulda got preggo with my kid. I dunno man, i coulda said mean things too like that at first because im selfish and prolly woulda felt boxed in and trapped. I know i woulda looked back and felt like a piece of shit for doing that to my kid a few years down the road tho. I could tell your mum was a good lady when i saw her pic. Mine is too, but she's way too overbearing. Even at my age now. My brother and I joke that my dad died so young just to get away from her. fkn lol

Yeah man I always wonder the same thing.

If I’m 24 and knock up a chick what do I realistically do? I want to think I’d do the right thing and stick around and be in the kids life but 24 is fucking young man and at 24 I was an irresponsible mess (still am lol).

So it’s tough for me to really criticize my dad. I may have done the same if I got a one night stand pregnant at that age srs. I hope not but you can’t say anything unless you live it.

Exactly. I know even if i tried to do the right thing and stick around w/ the mother...I realize i fkd some pretty fkd up sloots back in the day (some 7.5's too here and there) and it woulda devolved into divorce anyway.

Alive and married. Their next anniversary will be #49 or so.

They have been a fantastic example and there isn't anyone else that either of them would rather spend time with. They still do lots of little trips to see things together. Earlier this week they went kayaking. A couple weeks ago they drove the Beartooth Highway. It's the kind of relationship I want to have.

Tomorrow is #23 for my wife and me. We've had a good start.

Both parents are alive and they didn't get a divorce until I was in my late 30's so not earthshattering thing it could have been if I was a kid. The only part that sucks is dual visits on holidays.

I got divorced a year after my parents did and subconsciously parents divorce may have played a part. I can say though that I learned that its not worth sticking with someone that makes you miserable, that wasn't what started my divorce but it was the catalyst to make sure I didn't try to reconcile.

My parents have both passed away but they were still together when they passed due to a drugged out driver crashing into them and killing them (srs).

Split up when i graduates hs, told me they were seperating mid senior year of of hs. House on the market soon after.

Couple years prior i knew it was gonna happen. Pops was sleeping on the couch. Sad that the house we had he owned. And that hawaiian whore took it from him. House was sold for 600k in 2006, worth 1.5 now srs.

My parents also got divorced when I was around 30

It was always a bad marriage, they should have gotten divorced decades ago. I could recognize it as a kid. I wanted them to get divorced which is probably rare for a kid to think

So in Canada you are required to pay child support till the kid is 21 if they are in uni.

I got the last e transfer (equivalent of venmo in the U.S.) the day I turned 21 and haven’t spoken to the guy since so no. It’s been 15 years since I’ve spoken to him. I see him out and about in Toronto every now and then and I actively avoid him when I do. So he wouldn’t have known I was talking to them. Although one time a girl confronted him about knowing me and he told her “never bring that up again.”

My mom got pregnant at 21 and he was 24.
