Maybe. He actually recently got married according to instagram.

I don’t expect to ever hear from him again.

I asked family on that side years back if I should reach out and they told me no and that he’s a sociopath srs.

Yes my mom and dad have been married for over 50 years. Sadly I know that will not be my fate due to age and that women aren’t like they were 50 years ago.

Yeah they've been married for 45 years but a solid 75% of that has been full of resentment and coldness because my dad is a pretty lazy fuk and my mom has been frustrated at him over it for decades.

She kind of enabled it and let him get away with it, though

I'll be 42 in a month. Unless I live to be 92 or can invent a time machine I won't be married to my high school sweetheart like they did for 50+ years.

nope. They divorced when I was 10 or so. It wasn't messy or anything, just didn't work out. They were super friendly to one another and lived in the same apartment complex so seeing them both was very easy. When my mom was dying, my dad did a ton to help her out even though he had no obligation to do so. He says that just because their relationship didn't work, that he didn't care for the mother of his children.

My brother died at age 47. The day I turned 48 I said "whew" and went about my business...
And here I am turning 60 in a few days... So far, so good, so what...

Divorced since 79. Not sure if it has had an effect, but always been a sort of peacemaker/mediator in family and friend group arguments.

My parents have been together and married for 38 years. They got married two or three months from first meeting. I just turned 37. I have one full brother, and 3 half siblings from my father's side from before he met my mother. We all get along every well.

There are a lot of things I wish were different from my upbringing. But these were mainly due to being poor and the realities of that. My parents never neglected us, and I'm grateful for that. Plus my father was and still is an incredible role model.

My mother finished highschool and did some college, computer science, I don't think she finished though. My father had a 4th grade elementary education. For whatever reason my mother never found anything more than minimum wage work when we moved to the US, and my father always worked 2 or 3 jobs. He brute forced his way into middle class and early retirement.

My father is ridiculously intelligent, we've always said if he had been able to get a proper education, he'd have been a prominent figure. But considering where he came from, what he has achieved is incredible.

u play the hands u are dealt

it doesn't matter if u are elon musk or lebron or messi if ur born into a roof top slum in eastern china or in the rubble of post earthquake venezuela the best outcome after a ridiculous amount of work and grit might be to retire in a small house in a middle class area with ur kids going to uni

that's not considered success by most but if u look were some people start it's a huge win srs

That's all any of us can hope for. A good wife, a long life, and health.

I’ve recently realized not all of this is guaranteed. When you’re young you take not dying or getting terminally ill for granted. It’s very unsettling knowing that I could die in a fiery car accident tmw and we’re all on borrowed time.
