Sports you don’t really understand

Football. Gotta be honest. I don’t really get it. Seems like it would be a better game if it was either just running or just throwing. Are we running or playing catch? Like pick one boyos. Don’t get me started on field goals and punts

Hockey. Never got into it and never understood the rules. Was in college during the blackhawks dynasty so watched some of the games inevitably at bars and didnt know what was going on

Man the thing about football is it is pure chaos on the field. You don't know what's gonna happen. Make a sack and your team cheers for you? Or, maybe you didn't see the 280 guy running at you and get blindsided, and you hear the other fans and guys taunt you.

Many players have bad intentions. And getting a hard hit rocks your world

It is a whole different thing playing it vs watching it

Sports in general.

I get the games, but the fascination with them is so weird.

I mean, I understand the underlying psychology about desire for acceptance and distraction, but I don’t feel that. So I can’t empathize with it.

I don’t understand sports as a concept.

I don't really like watching it, I'll be honest. I've come around to watching it in later years. But when I was playing and right after I quit playing, I didn't give a chit.

Watching it is nothing like doing it. Football in particular. Baseball I actually prefer to watch; I just wasn't that into it.

I get that. Doing sports is amazing. A great way to bond with fellow human specimens, physical exercise, assertive communication and problem solving. An amazing thing to participate in. Very enjoyable way to spend some time.

Not only that, in football you're relying on those guys to help you and keep you safe. Lift you up if you get wrecked. A great team is a brotherhood

The World Cup. All these group matches, knockout rounds. The schedule confusing. Some games seem to matter, others don't.

I've grown to like the NFL. I didn't even grow up watching it but the high stakes of each game can be exciting especially closer to the playoffs.

Hockey and baseball I understand but what I don't get is how fans keep track. There are so many games in a season. 162 in MLB is ridiculous. With football at least a casual fan can follow along each week.

When you really think about it whoever invented baseball must have been on some serious acid.

1. You don't score points or goals, you score runs
2. The game is not timed like all other sports; instead you collect outs and it stops after 9 innings - its the only game that could technically last forever
3. The field is shaped like a diamond; almost everything else is a rectangle
4. There aren't refs, there's umpires
5. The field is inconsistent. You have grass in the outfield, dirt for the base paths, and more grass surrounding the mound
6. Getting the ball out of play is the optimal outcome offensively
7. It's the only game (I think) where once substituted out, you can't go back in

And most of this doesn't even account for standard gameplay rules like striking out, force outs, stealing bases, etc. This is just the weird as fuck rules for game parameters pretty much ignoring any parallels to other sports.

About the only thing that comes close to it's weirdness is maybe golf but baseball beats it by a long shot
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Basketball ever since Steph Curry ruined it by teaching the world to just jack up 3s all game, and the fact that Lebeta, Giannis etc all get to take one gather step off a dribble then 5 steps called either 'eurostep' or Lebricks famous 'crab dribble', absolutely avoiding a passport for such significant travel violations, and not getting called for it.
