I remember seeing that in the cinema when it was released. I had never seen anything so graphic and raw when it came to war movies; the sounds of the bullets, the camera work, the blood and guts, the screaming, the burning bodies, the soldiers asking for their mother's as they died. Plus that brutal close quarter fight between the Jewish soldier and the German near the end. That movie has always struck me as basically starting a new genre of cinema.

Same way it felt watching it in 4K. Felt like a whole new experience.

I didn’t see it in theaters but i remember around the time it came out I heard my friends parents talking about seeing it in theaters. Someone said he took his own father to see it (who served in wwii) and the old man walked out of the theater with a ptsd moment and told his son that that was the closest thing he ever saw to realistic combat on screen.

Something like that
