There is Supreme Court precedence that law enforcement agencies can discriminate against prospective recruits for being too intelligent.

The idea is, a degree of smarts will lead any rational person to the conclusion the job is not worth it.

People don’t become cops for the money. They become cops to exert authority over people on behalf of the institution. Low IQ assholes think that is an honorable thing to do and they enjoy it so they stick around. Smart people leave after a few months resulting in wasted tax payer money for their training and academy fees.

Some officers are getting twice that and more.

It is an institutional power thing though, so in order to climb you have leave any essence of human connection or empathy behind. The institution is all that matters.

I grew up with people who are in law enforcement now, and they are decent dudes but id never want them in charge of some strangers life lol
