Being overly concerned about your diet is irrelevant as long as you're not fat

Bread, pasta, red meat, sweets, and other foods that are considered "unhealthy"

As long as you do it in moderation so you're not fat

That's the catch

Don't be fat because fat people don't last long

The guys who live to their 90s and beyond mostly all had normal and unimpressive physiques in their prime, a lot of them were even what's considered skinnyfat in their prime

They ate whatever and a lot of them didn't even work out

But they stayed within a reasonable physique

The guys who are obsesses about eating "clean" and working out usually don't last much longer than the general population (76 year average life expectancy for men currently)

A lot of them don't even last that long despite being overly concerned about their diet

Meh, I went years of my life where I accounted for every single calorie that went into to and out of my body the best I could.

I ate the same thing every day for nutritional value, and I did not satisfy cravings. It wasn’t difficult because I became addicted to the results but it wasn’t easy.

Overall yes I'd say a 170 pound man with low body fat but awful diet is going to be healthier obviously than 190 pound person with 20 extra lbs of fat on them around their torso but a perfect diet. The 170 pound man is probably going to feel a lot more like shit everyday though.

why would the 170lb man feel worse if his body naturally regulates things to where it better controls his appetite and belly fat levels?

By awful diet I meant like all sugar, no protein. Pretty much causing a sugar addiction and crash, and no mental clarity because you're putting crap into your body. If somebody can eat that everyday and feel great, all the power to them I guess.

i don't know, i guess some people have bodies that can do it naturally. not saying it's common but for example i think of the slim sports ball players that eat pixie sticks/fried chicken yet stay on the level other pros who are meticulous about proper diet/nutrients.

an example in the common folk fitness world is perhaps "hard gainers"...the dudes that feel like they can't eat enough to weigh more than 150 or whatever. their body strongly wants them in this range whereas they want more weight/muscle for vanity purposes. for longevity purposes they'd probably be better off accepting their bodies natural ability to regulate things at 150.
