New lens - you mirin?

I’ve been slacking off, and maybe a bad way to get motivated (buying stuff), but still.
Just ordered the Nikon Z 180-600 mm.

https://www.nikonusa.com/p/nikkor-z-180-600mm-f56-63-vr/20117/overview

Older sigma 500 4.5 that sold off. Decent, but not great. Also sold off Nikon 200-500 mm - slow and my copy didn’t produce the best.

Nikon 300 f2.8 VR - 20 yrs old and will keep. But af motor may malfunction at any time.

Hope to get motivated again and share some pics.

No, cheated sad to say. Was in Vienna, and Borås.

Really hope I can get a proper trip one day though. Several youtubers have gone to the same place in Botswana, living on river boats. A few days are 4 -10 k though, which is steep.

Hope you get started soon. It's easy these days, when older tech is so discounted on ebay etc. Still same quality of glass etc.

I'd post some cool stuff. My phone camera has butchered some cool moments over the years.

They taste too good. Over population is bad too. For forest health, car accidents and the actual species with chronic wasting disease.

If I started from nothing and on a budget I'd look for a Nikon D500, and some older glass. This camera is about 10 yrs old but legendary. Being an aps-c sensor, you'd get some extra reach (1.53X) for wildife so your 300 mm lens etc would be equivalent to 459 mm. And you can get that older 300 mm f4 for probably 3-400 dollars. That is a very sharp lens. This is how I would start from 0.

Another option if want new tech/mirrorless... is the nikon z50ii. Very cheap, 1k, and also aps-c sensor. Despite its' low price, it has the same processor and autofocus system as the flagship 5k cameras.

I bought this one to get into mirrorless tech (new camera tech.) You can buy any old nikon glass and adapt it to this one, and enjoy the new focus systems - set it for birds, mammals etc and it will almost do the job for you.

You have the best location as well. So beautiful. Saw your casual pic of deer a while back. Holy shit if you had 500 + mm.

Still really cool pics.

Yeah an African safari would be sick.
