Do you guys still play videogames?

Growing up I loved pokemon, mario, james bond games on gameboy and nintendo. played a lot of age of empires on pc and total war games. then Halo was huge, same with call of duty on xbox live. Those games were amazing as a teenager. I got into dota 2 for a while and got pretty good, tons of games on steam like tf2, all that stuff. Loved the dark souls games, elden ring, escape from tarkov, tons more.

I've tried getting into new and old games, and it just feels kind of boring now. Lose interest after 20 minutes. idk what happened, used to be able to play for hours. it just feels like a waste of time and I don't get into them anymore. I have nothing to do today and its hot as hell out.

I like the idea of video games more than playing them

I always keep a computer reasonably updated though ever since COVID video cards have been more expensive so I haven't went as hard core. I had a 660, 970,2070 which I sold then got a used 3060 to hold me over. 70 series used to be like a 300 dollar card now it's like a 700 dollar card.


I have a ps5 and even a retro handheld


I end up watching videos about the 90s gaming area on YouTube alot. I get my nostalgia that way. I had a snes and ps1 that era


It's hard for me to get into games like even if I do get sucked in to one I usually don't finish I get bored with it after a while

It was much different back then, everything was new and exciting and we were all young. The cost is going to keep going up, it will prob cost like $3-5k to get
a good gaming computer in a few years. Maybe now even, idk.

Robocop Rogue City

Those are a mixture of open world and linear. No BLOAT, MTX, etc.

I played witcher to near the end, twice

Red dead I got pretty far then eventually bored. It is a good game though

I dont think the game is bloated tbh. The game is just a fucking slog to playthrough which probably accounts for the bloat lol ... brb 20 minutes to loot something. 40 minutes for the animation to play out. RDR2 would have been perfect had it not been trying so hard with its simlike elements.

LOL no, its not bloated in the slightest. Ubisoft games like Asscreed is bloated having to clear 50 enemy camps to get some crap armour

Rockstar are the GOAT at open world gaming.

There's a difference between appreciating the gameplay, taking things slow and being meticulous on your own terms as opposed to having it be forced on you by devs for no other reason than trying to be a wild west simulator.

Look, if it's part of the game design I get it, but Rockstar have all the time and money in the world to actually implement an alternative system where you don't need to do all of that - and it could have been easily patched in with the budget and teams that they have. Even fucking Ubisoft of all companies update their games post launch with QOL patches where things like looting etc can be done without the need for overly done animations.

But that's only one game. Also Ubisoft is terrible, no wonder y'all are bored.

Mostly play Garden Warfare 2 which is a 10 year old game, and Marvel Rivals. I play some BF6 but I get bored of it, it just doesn't hold my attention like BF3 and BF4 did, or even BF1.

In College Football 27 they added a new coach skill tree and gated it behind a new subscription service. This would have killed any interest in the game/series for me, but this is the first CFB game ever on PC so I can buy the basic edition and just mod in all the skill trees for free anyways so fuck em. They already make their face on ultimate team players now they want to nickle and dime the people playing single player modes. If it ever gets to the point where you can't get around that stuff through modding then I'm just going to opt out and play older games.

I started playing Dayz again believe it or not, the highs and lows of the game are incredible. It actually has a decent playerbase, around 50k on pc with tons of custom servers. You can go an hour or two without seeing any combat or people, and then out of nowhere you start getting shot at and you get a massive adrenaline spike that makes you jump in your seat.

I like that you actually have to play smart in this game and think/plan. If you run through open fields it's dumb because people will see you and possibly shoot you down. You have to manage hunger/thirst and food and drink aren't that common. You have to pick your engagements wisely or you'll get shit on by people with better gear or who are running in a 3 man squad.

Anyone else play it back in the day? Originally played on the arma 2 mod version of it. So many games just feel brainless now where you run around and shoot and it doesn't matter if you lose. In dayz, if you die, you lose all of your gear and have to start from scratch.
