I can't float. But I can walk around on the bottom of a pool.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Everyone floats, its impossible for a person to be unable to float. A lot of people who say they dont float are people who cant swim and tense their bodies until they panic and temporarily sink for a bit.

Not all bodies of water are the same tho is a lot easier to float on some oceans compared to others.

Everyone can float for a moment if they fill their lungs with air. But some people can just float on their back in a plank position indefinitely, which is what OP is referring to (I assume). It's all about how dense your body is, which means the amount of mass relative to surface area.

People with heavy bone/muscle density particularly in the legs can't just lie on their back and float at the top of the water, they'll be weighed down by their lower body into a vertical position and even that is difficult to maintain because they have to continuously release the oxygen in their lungs in order to take new breaths. So we start to sink and simply cannot keep our heads consistently above water without having to tread using arms and legs. And I'm a very capable swimmer.

This seems like the correct answer from a math, physics, and communism perspective.

No man. Communist Llama seems like he nailed it.

No one is going to actually sink, just not going to happen. It's just that some people may be in a position where they're not comfortable in the water but no one is actually going to sink all the way down.

You won't sink to the bottom, but some people cannot float on their backs and stay bouyant. Ill take a deep breath in, get floating on my back and immediately my legs sink and the torso follows. Then I go under when full vertical with this kind of bobbing up and down motion. When I put on wetsuit I float no problem. It's a body fat and air in lungs issue. Fatties float, shredded brahs sink. It's a badge of honor to drown easier

Then clearly I must be doing something wrong.
