Ford CEO: Consumers should not have the right to repair their vehicle
because they will do it wrong and create danger for others.
The quote
"...These are very complicated cars, and we don’t think that’s safe, for many of the repairs on our vehicles, someone at home like myself could never do it. I have no problem working on a ’73 Bronco, but to work on a brand-new Bronco? I need all sorts of specialty tools. That’s something that, um, you know, we would put people’s lives at risk.”"

Simple enough. Don't buy Ford. I've already been doing that my whole life.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Theyve been doing it for years (all car manuf) making things unnecessarily hard to get to or dangerous re: hybrid work. even working on my prius stuff is just crazy unreachable. best car decision is to buy late 90s (cuzza airbags imo the only REAL upgrade needed).
all of it is a scam to get your 1000 bucks (dealership minimum charge practically).

personally, I avoid freeways unless necessary. not only because the speed is something that I've always said...you might not die but you might wish you did...situations. but also unvetted drivers also going fast as hell and things happen so quickly you can't reasonably control the situation (life aint the movies where a stuntman is driving avoiding mishaps).
I dunno. plus and minuses for everything I guess.

or Google crash tests, etc
I have 90s 6 cylinder that gets significantly worse gas mileage than my new v8

I think I'll buy a Chinese car for fun to try them out. They look nice and well built
Maybe I'll go pick one out this week. I could use a nice little car for driving around the city

That is fine as long as it’s not law. They could void warranty on self repair all they want. Let’s see what customers would buy when they’re the only company that has that warranty void disclaimer and others car companies don’t.

Federal Actions and Automotive DebatesThe "Freedom to Fix" Memorandum: Signed in July 2026, this directive asks the EPA to deprioritize enforcement actions against individuals good-faith repairing their own cars and aims to ease aftermarket parts certifications. [1]Automotive Industry Pushback: Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) argue that complex vehicle software and safety considerations require dealer-exclusive servicing, while independent mechanics claim it is an effort to protect monopoly revenue streams

I should have kept my 84 GMC square body srs. I loved working on it , and things were so simple back then . I wouldn’t let a fking mechanic touch that truck . They’re always in a rush and do chit work
Btw I believe is was executives from both Ford and GM that are pushing this chit . Fk em srs

part of the engineering goal should be to make it as easily serviceable/repairable by the consumer as possible.
