No one talking about the state of New York banning data centers?
The resistance has begun
New York strikes the first blow pausing any new data center construction as it looks into the environmental impact.
All of the AI simps are in for a hard wake up call when more and more resistance pops up. It’s going to be a very gradual process to have it actually replacing things.
If you think AI will have a sweeping impact to do a complete overhaul of how we live you’re delusional. It’ll take a solid 30+ years for AI to have any significant impact on how we live.

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I think it's a 6 month moratorium? Obviously a state like NY is really dumb for doing this, but it's also a state full of cucks who seems intent on killing their own future, so I guess I'll just let them do it.

P.S. I already posted previously how this next presidential election will be heavily influenced by candidate policies around AI
You’re witnessing the beginning of this. AI policies will dominate the next election. Educate yourself now to figure out who you side with.

There’s a limit where it backfires. You’re one of those dumbass AI supporters who thinks pushing full blast for AI has no negative consequences because there’s profit to be made.
Very simplistic thinking from you Oliver. I’m unimpressed. Think more critically for once bro

They are actually in the process of building a massive data center in a farm field about 10 minutes away from me and apparently it's going to pay $150m in taxes every single year to various entities within the county. How could you ever have an issue with that?!?

Man, I honestly just think the anger against data centers is ignorance. They've been around forever, and it's mostly competing countries spreading propaganda to make our citizens angry at AI. They know if they can cause stuff like this (like they're doing in NY), they're successfully slowing us down in this arms race and allowing China to get the upper hand on us.
AI will be responsible for making life a lot better and ensuring military superpower.
Do you know about the anger over water usage? It's nothing, that's basically a BS argument, it uses relatively no water compared to dozens of everyday things you use.
Being against data centers is like being against nuclear energy or dams for electricity generation because it disrupts a natural river or something. We need that storage. Not to mention, AI is just a fraction of data center usage.

First issue is, they're large enough to disrupt normal flow of life for suburbs nearby. Second, they're getting large because they have to store a shit ton of low quality data(think 5 hr youtube videos). That's wasteful.
I think they need to start using AI to cull and decide what data is not worth keeping to simply keep the size of the data center small.
Eventually the admins here will have to start culling much of the data here in order to keep things monetarily manageable. Newmisc didn't even have that many threads and the admin had to shut it down due to hosting cost lol.

This will be a common theme especially since 80% of people are against AI. Sick of seeing all the adverts constantly on youtube AI this AI that - fuck off.

OP, I agree, the mid terms will be won and lost based on AIPAC and data centers.
Hopefully people blend the two and understand the security state that is forming with heavy influence from the tiny hat tribe.

Tucker had a good take on the data centers as it's pretty obvious what these will used for.

New York is right about things sometimes though.
MMA was banned in New York for a while and people were complaining but they weren't understanding the situation because New York was right to do that. New York had a lot of experience with Italian mafia scumbags and boxing and didn't want more of that with the MMA. The original owners of the UFC were straight up a mafia family.
