This World Cup was so good brahs. As someone who thought soccer was a phag sport most of my life, I think I've been officially converted into a soccer fan (srs). Mind = blown.

Kinda sucks that it's over now. How do I keep up with the sport? Is the MLS worth following? Aware me boyos.

It was a good World Cup. It’s the first time I followed one of them. It sucks that it’s only once every 4 years. What do soccer fans do in the interval? There are so many different leagues around that I can’t wrap my head around it. I don’t know if I’m interested in the women’s World Cup (next year, I think?)

But still - this one was fun to follow

There is a Euro Cup as well once every 4 years, next one is in 2028, So there is a major football tournament once every 2 years. Yeah but I get you rest of the stuff like leagues, nations leagues, domestic cups etc is too much to follow and sometimes confusing....but I don't mind watching a very competitive champions league match sometimes.

I’ll check it out srs.

Dunno if I’ll be able to get into an English league on the same level though. I know the big names like Chelsea and Arsenal, but if those teams are playing some random team from the English countryside like Ipswich (had to look it up), how the fook am I gonna know who that is?

At least with the NFL each team represents a major U.S. city, the players are drafted and the league had a shared cultural identity. There’s also a strong media/promotional push to keep fans engaged.

I think this is why soccer struggles in America. The most elite players are foreigners playing in foreign leagues with poor promotion stateside, while our own soccer leagues are shitty and filled with lower level players.

For English Premier League … who do we support? We don’t have a hometown team. For that reason, I’m looking at MLS because they have a hometown team
