People who claim they don't need a $1000 phone are dumb copers

My S21 Ultra screen went black. $350 cost to fix. I wanted the S26 Ultra, but decided against it. Instead I bought a $200 Galaxy A17. This phone is pure POS. Slow, laggy, can only play 1080p.

I understand avoiding consumermaxx **** but sometimes it's best to spend money on something good that will last you awhile.

Now I'm contemplating the S26 Ultra. That should last me 5 years instead of wasting money in crap.

I think a computer with internet is also addictive, but it's different, because you shut it off, and turning it on is a big hassle especially if you use extremely high security protocols, so in a sense you shut it down, put it away, and it's less tempting to check it every time a thought pops into your head

a phone is insidious because you barely put it down before you pick it back up again and it's generally always on and there's always a "legit" reason to pick it up again (using its camera, using its timer, checking the weather, checking google maps), the ride never ends

If you actually buy the phone for 1k outright rather than switching phone promotions every 2 years you're an idiot. Infact, you could probably just take your current phone, have someone swap the battery and rock it for another 2 years under some MVNO that charges $30 a month unlimited data. Phones tech is at a stand still and all "improvements" are pretty much gimmicks and AI bullshit nobody wants.

Why do you need more than 1080p? trying to watch 4k corn?  in your situation i understand upgrading.  but people who upgrade every year.. i don't understand cause the phones are never an actual upgrade.

true 4K porn is very hard to find

but 4K is a must for a computer monitor if you don't like looking at lego block looking pixxels when working on text

It is all about the battery. They keep making phones more powerful yet 4-5k mah is still the industry standard. Give me a 8k mah battery and I'm good.

Actually I was gonna put in the Op i was fine with 1080p. I could've delt with that.

But the lag? Everything on this phone is slow. Loading up apps is slow. As I'm typing it takes a split second for letters to pop up.

Good for you if srs. What are you using the camera for? Its blurry ass.

I use mine to misc, research different topics, chatgpt, etc. I basically use it like a computer. Before I had a work phone, I used it for emails, loading up project management apps, etc.

you bought a shit $199 phone with 4GB RAM, loaded with Samsung Bloatware, and a shit MediaTek processor and wonder why it lags like molasses? penny wise and pound foolish!

keep it as a backup phone and get a Pixel 10a.

A $300 phone camera is good for basic things. Your videos are probably 720p. My 5 year old S21 Ultra would easily beat put any new $300 - $600 phone.

I don't have a use for taking high quality videos. If I did, I'd get a real camera, not some shitty little phone

Yeah most people aren't lugging around a camera. Everyone uses their phone, so it's convenient to have a good one. No need for a camera.

All phone cameras are shit quality. I don't need to upgrade from a 4/10 to a 5/10 quality camera. Mine works well for what I need, but no phone is going to be professional quality

You're almost certainly a manlet and/or non white. That's the only explanation for caring so much about what brands you own

I recently switched to IPhone from a S22, got it for like $50 for switching carriers.

I liked the S22 better though. Not impressed with iPhone at all

Got a notification last post was a reply to me, but doesn't look like it here.

I rarely send texts either, but receive many. Over here, all kinds of services send you text messages. Packages to pick up, pizza ready, medical appointments and so on.

1. Decide what you want to spend.

2. Buy the best phone for the money (Include second hand phones), this could be an s21-24 OP.
